Pierceton County Track Champions
Pier, eton's powerhouse Cubs porved too much for the Syracuse trackteam last Friday in the county track meet here, and captured both the high school and Junior high championship. The Yellow Jacket harriers were ruunersup in both divisions, being squeezed out by two points in the senior event and being overwhelmed 66'2-23‘a in the junior meet. ; Team scores in the high school affair were Pierceton, 61 14 15;

EBENEZER LADIES AID Ebenezer Ladies Aid met at the home of Wilma Beck for their meeting Thursday 21 April 26 Members answered roll call. Their were two children and five guests present. Rosa Stoner. Mabel Hontz. Carolyn Wilson, Florence Kiser and Blanche Starkey. Devationywere given by Helen Bender. 7~ Officers elected for the new year are: Wilma Beck, president; Edna Thomas, vice president; Mary Miller, secretary; Katie Wilkerson, assistant secretary; Esta Harper, treasurer. A bible quiz was Lucile Dukes. Refreshments were served by the hostess and co-host esses. Helen Bender, Blanche Hinderer. and Lucile Dukes. The next meeting will be at the home of Elva Bitner Thurs ; 19 May. TREATED FOR INJURY James Pounds, Syracuse, was reate< Monday at Goshen General Hospital for a foreign body in his left eye. The injury was received in a Syracuse factory accident. He was released following treatment.

Jones, and Wil hams from here won the 880yard relay. Syracuse freshmen have a meet scheduled at Pierceton 10 May and the Junior High Land of Lakes Track meet is scheduled the day following at Warsaw.
Lions Fete Athletics At Dinner Lion’s Club meirTtfers enterined the high school! boys who have participated in sports during the present school year at a dinner meeting last week. The boys were guests of the club, and several fathers attended the banquet by special invitation. . The school cafeteria was set in banquet style for the one hundred twenty people attending. The tables were decorated for the occasion and the atmosphere reigned throughout. Philip Fawey played music as the Lions and their guests entered the oom. After the usual ceremony ;n opening, a swiss steak dinner was serv'd by the school cafeeria cooks under the supervision of Mrs. Lois Koher. The program consisted of a hurnorus reading l?y Michael Storms; introduction of the boys in the various sports: cross country, baseball, basketball, and track; an address by Hilliard Gates, commentator from Fort Wayne: and the presentation of the annual athletic awards which were made by the coaches and Sylvester Amsler, principal of the liigh school. The following trophies were presented: Most outstanding in ross Country—Jerry Rinker; most valuable player in basketball—Carroll Denton; and best percentage of free throws in bas ketball—Francis Denton. The most valuable person in traik will receive his trophy afttr the sectional meet this Friday. Jack Kimpel acted as toastmaster. and Bill Stofs and Amsler were on the banquet committee. ATTEND CONFERENCE Mrs. Frank Putt, Mrs. Earl Money. Mrs. Harold Arnold and Mrs,. Walter Hagerdon attended dinner and luncheon meetings of the Camp Fire Girls Association regional conference held at Elk-J hart. The Goshen Council of the ■ Campfire Girls Association were ! hosts to the meeting.

15,000 Are Expected At '6O Scout-O-Rama More than fifteen thousand people are expected to attend the 1960 Scout-O-Rama to be presented at the Elkhart Noi(thside Gym by the Pioneer Trails Boy Scout Counsu Friday and Saturday. John Renn of Elkhart, chairman of ticket sales, reports that sales are very strong this fear. He also reported that several Scouts had sold over 200 tickets the first 15 days after the ticket were distributed. The Scout-O-Rama is an activity filled panorama of colorful booth exhibits and demonstartions presented by Cubs, Scouts, and Explorers for the purpose of giving the public an increase understanding of the wealth of program available to all phases of scouting. Anyone may purchase tickets from any Cub, Scout, or Explorer. 101 Scout units (packs, troops or posts* have registered for the affair. Each of these will be given a booth in which they will demonstrate many phases of the program available to boys in in scouting. The doors of the gym •will be open to the public Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m. and vt 7 p.m, * Visiting the James Hughes family last week were Mr. and Mrs. James Hughes of Huntington.

Primary Mothers Club: Mrs. Marshall Coy was hostess at a pot luck dinner for members of the Primary Mothers Club recently. Co-hostess was Mrs. Gerald Hubartt. A short business meeting was conducted by president Mrs. Robert Wiggs. A “w’hite elephant sale” provided entertainment for the evening with Mrs. Philip Strieby as auctioneer. ‘This program concluded the Primary Mothers Club program for the current year. Mothers Club Guest speaker, Mrs. Oscar Benson presented a pregram on flower arrangements as the Senior Mothers Club met at the home of Mrs. John Roddie for the last meeting of the year. Mrs. Noble Blocker presided at the business meeting- during which final plans Jpj the annual Spring Party were discussed. The Senior Club, now ’observing its 25th anniversary, will be the hostess group for the other three Syracuse Mothers Club at a banquet to be held at Oakwood Hotel on 9 May. Tire Sunshine gift was won by Mrs Lowell Barnhart, and the center piece was presented to Mrs. Blocker. Mrs. Joe Thornburg as co-hostess.
