Lose 2 Games At Middlebury Friday Syracuse Yellowjackets suffered their third loss of the season. 70 to 53. Friday night when ► they tangled with the Middlebury squad on the Middies' floor. Jackets, trailing by 25 points at the end of the third quarter, picked up steam during the final period. The hosts held a terrific 4 lead and the Syracuse five were unable to pull the game to a victory. Harry Alfrey was the only foul out of the game. Carroll Denton, with 20 points for SyrL acuse's high scorer, chalked up four fouls in the first period, but played cautious ball during the final quarters of the game. E. Syracuse led by six points as the buzzer ended the third quar ter Excitement was high as the Middies tied the score and finally drove ahead with only sec oridfl remaining m the game. Steve Williams and Tom Firestone were high scorers for the Jackets with 11 and 8 points respectively. L. Troyer, with 15 I points, was the Middies’ high point man. T. Firestone. S. H. S. News SENIOR CLASS The senior boys were treated to a wonderful turkey dinner 6:30 Wednesday 18 November 1959. The senior girls were responsible for this treat and worked hard at preparing the meal every spare moment of the day. The turkey dinner is also a result of the magazine campaign held in October. The campaign was a grand siccess and added a large sum of money to our treasury. Elementary News FIRST GRADE Mrs. Arlen Bobeck During the past two or three weeks, there were many vacant seats in our room becouse of chicken pox. This week, we are all back in school again. W’ayne Carwile had a birthday on 17 November and he brought cookies for the occasion which we enjoyed with our chocolate milk. During this Thanksgiving season we have been learning about the Pilgrams and Indians. Several children brought interesting books, pictures and displays. We also have learned some Thanksgiving songs. THIRD GRADE Miss Carole D. Knapp Open house was our biggest project these past weeks. The girls performed under the direction of Miss Marsha Shock, and John Juday was among the group that lead the pledge to the flag. To all parents and friends who visited us during American Education Week aind Open House, we thank and invite you back for. a longer stay. Officers during the past two weeks were: Joe Thornburg, president: Steve Mock, vice president: Jan Rarig. secretary; and Paul Coy. treasurer. The five committees are preparing to share their knowledge with the rest of the class. GRADE 5 Homer Allen The contest by the PT A in the membership drive was won by our room, thanks to the hard work of the students. With the prize < SIO.OO > we are planning to get an aquarium for our room Our goal was 100 but arrived at only 98 members. We now have 27 in our class. Janet Pruitt came to our room from Milford. The Gideons visited our room last month and presented each person with a New Testament. We have each been reading a scripture that we like. Twenty-five parents visited our room during open house.
