Choraliers Make Plans For December Contata Mrs. Fred Clark entertained the Methodist Choraliers Thursday evening at her home and was assisted by Miss Catherine Connell. Masked members pro vided entertainment for the group and were served delightful refreshments in keeping with the Halloween season. Part of the time was spent practicing for the Christmas cantata which will be given Thursday 10 December this year. Decision to give the an nua! program earlier than usual was made so that it would not conflict with cantata dates of other churches and to permit some members to take advantage of the longer holiday vacation scheduled by the school this year. Recording of cantatas given in former years added to the evenlng's entertainment Among the recordings was the cantata to be given this year, a favorite which the choir will repeat, in December. Honor Jane Nusbaum With Bridal Shower Miss Jane Nusbaum whose marriage to Lt. John Berg of the army air force will take place 23 November in Harlingen. Texas, was honored Thursday night with a bridal linen shower by Mrs. Edward Berg of Bremen. A oink and white color scheme was highlighted by a shower umbrella where the gifts were arranged and was carried out tn the refreshment table. Gue.-ts from Syracuse included the bride elect and her mother Mrs. Willard Nusbaum. Mrs Theo Thomas and Mrs. Ruth Whitcomb. Twenty-one in all attended the party. Kindergarten Class Has Halloween Party The morning kindergarten class met in costume and masks Friday and formed a parade which visited the three sections of both first and second grades. Returning to their own room, they also had a birthday treat for Mark Tatman with cookies made by his grandmother. Assisting Mrs. Loren Longen baugh was Mrs. Don E. McNamara.

Mr. and Mrs. John Swenson were honored with an open house celebration at their home riven by their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Swenson, in observance of their 50th wedding anniversary. Former residents of the Syracuse North Webster community, both families now live in Tucson. Arizona. John Swenson and the former Anna Stein were married 21 Oc’ober 1909 in Chicago and made their first home here at what later became Jones Dairy farm They have one son. Harold. and four granddaughters. Corn Shock Wins First Prize In Halloween Festival Parade
Crowds filled the old gym at the school house Saturday night for the PT A Halloween Festival as storybook characters, foreign ers and animals from far and near places joined with witches, ghosts, skeletons and spacemen in typical Halloween style. Leading the parade were a miscellaneous group of animals headed by purple people eater Bob Singleton and beatnik J. R. Koher both of whom received prizes Chosen for frist and second place in the animal group were Mike Clark and Mindy Jean Rodgers. Prizes of $2 for first place and $1 for second place were given in each category except where only two or three of each kind were entered in which case additional prizes were awarded. Judges made an effort to select first and second place winners on the basis of originally and best representation: First place winners competed for the grand prize Prize winners were: Black faces: Jo Ellen McClintock. earns and gifts, among them a group of pictures of their neighbors living south of Syracuse on Road 13. The pictures were taken especially for the occasion by Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Shock of R R. 2. A family dinner climaxed the day. Another highlight of the occasion was a group of Hoosiers from the Indiana Club of Tucson, to which the Swensons belong, who sang several songs including ‘‘Let Me Call You Sweetheart” and “Put On Your Old Gray Bonnet." The Swensons write that they have enjoyed hearing from their friends "back home" and receiving their good wishes at this time.

Bud Kline was parade marshal and Harry Appenzeller was stage director. Judges were Dr. Wendell Shank. Mrs. Carl Satre and Margaret Freeman. BPW Crowns Queen During the evening penny votes continued to pour in for the election of the Halloween Festival Queen sponsored by the Business and Professional Womans Club. Final count showed Shirley LeVemier. junior, with $69.70: Sandra Huber. Bth grade. $34.23: Ann Kowallick, 7th grade. $20.17; Janet Swenson, sophomore. $10.75; Shirley Whitehead, freshman, $8.35: and Brenda Stabler, senior, $3.79. Total money collected was $146 - 99. to be donated to the PTA. Shirley LeVemier. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul LeVemier. was crowned queen of the Festival by Mrs. Merton Meredith of the BPW who placed crown studded with brilliants on the queen's head. Miss LeVemier also received a $25 U. S. bond from the BPW. A cake walk interspersed the vaYious activities with some lucky guests taking home as many as seven cakes. A fishing pond, spook house, basketball shoot and "squirt the clown” game added to the entertain ment as the crowds milled around throughout the evening. PTA Membership To All Time High of 419 PTA membership reached an all time high of 419 during the membership drive conducted in October. Homer Alien's fifth grade won first prize of $lO in the classroom competition. Mrs. Peeble’s sixth grade was in second'place and won $5. The contest closed Saturday night but membership is open to anyone still wanting to join. This year's membership tops last year’s total of 363 which was the highest up to that time. Chairman of the membership committee is Homer Allen who was assisted by Mrs. Arlen Bobeck and Mrs. William Wesner. Junior Mothers Club: Monday evening, the Junior Mothers Club met at the Westminster Hotel at Lake Winona for supper. Thej- were entertained by two guests, Mrs. Loren Longenbaugh of Syracuse elementary teacher and Mrs. Noble Blocker also of Syracuse. Mrs. Longenbaugh presented a resume of humorous happenings and sayings of her kindergarten class. Mrs. Blocker, one of the founders of the club, gave interesting facts concerning the founding of the Club 25 years ago. Mrs. Dale Allen and Mrs. Loren Longenbaugh won the door prize The hostesses were Mrs. Herb ert Kirkdorfer. Mrs. Vearl Gaff and Mrs. James Hughes. The meeting was closed by Mrs. A. W. Spencer singing the “Lords' Prayer.” accompanied by Mrs. Gaff. Th'’ SvracuScene . . . Mrs. Martin LeVemier returned from a trip south with her son and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn LeVemier of Burt Lake, Michigan. They visited relatives in Bardsdale and included sight seeing trips in other parts of the south. D. B- Perkins of Louisville and friends were here at his Wawasee Lake home for the week end.
