MAXWELTON LADIES Esther Brewster took first prize in medal play tournament at Maxwelton Golf Club, Tuesday 2 June with 76 low net. Helen Anglemyer and Elly Blakesley tied for second with 77 low net. Herbison Presents 5-Year Plan For Syracuse At €. of C.

Jerry Herbison, president of Aero Mfg. Corp., presented a long range plan for local development to the Chamber of Commerce at the June meeting Tuesday night at Howard’s. Chairman of a committee including Ralph Oyler and John Sheire, Herbison’s report covered 1. a 5-year prospectus; 2. immediate action to be considered; 3. promotional activities: 4. reccational programs; and 5. projects for industrial and residential development. Prepared in detail, Dr. Wendel Shank, chamber president, is having copies made for the entire membership to study individually. The work of the committee is the result of the general consensus of opinion that Syracuse community has become an all year residential area rather than a resort locality with a three-month season. Sponsor Festival Entry Miss Janet Riley will represent the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce in the annual Mermaid Festival parade at North Webster the last of June. The chamber voted to sponsor an entry in the parade to ride in a convertible decorated for the occasion. John Kroh. treasurer, reported that there are now 68 paid members. He also reported that $658 has been donated so far to the Fourth of July fireworks display. TB X-Ray Unit It was announced again that the county TB unit will be in Syracuse Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning in front of the Legion Hall. Anyone over the age of 18 may go to the unit for chest x rays and TB tests. The SyracuScene . . . Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kroh left Sunday for West Lafayette and summer school at Purdue. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Howard and son Jim returned Tuesday from a trip to California where they have been for the past weeks. Rev. and Mrs. Kennard Robinson attended commencement and alumni ceremonies at Taylor University in Upland Friday. Mrs. Robinson is a graduate of the university. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Miles left Saturday for Richmond, Va. to -visit their daughter and family. the Don Rapps. They will be gone a week.

WAWAKEECHIE HOME DEMONSTRATION CLUB Mrs. Raymond Wilson, Mrs. Nelle Hays and Mrs. Eugene Hattersley were hostess Wednesday 27 May to 19 members of the Wawakeechie Home Demonstration Club as they met at the Turkey Creek Conservation clubhouse, Also present were three children and a guest, Mrs. Grace Amick. Gale Van Zant and Betty Dalton took top honors in the 9-hole play. A donation was made to the Kosciusko County Cancer Fund in memory of two members, Marjorie Siebel and Margaret Ann Felts. Miss Lenora Reagan arrievd home Monday from Marquette University in Miliwaukee where she received her bachelor of science degree Sunday. Mrs. Nora Colwell has been confined to her home this week.

M. E. CIRCLES Mrs. Effie Spencer was hostess to Circle No. 2 of tne Methodist Church Thursday night at Howard’s. Circle No. 3 met at the home of Mrs. James Ridgeway Thursday afternoon. Fifteen members were present and two guests, Mrs. Noble Greene and Mrs. Dorothy Smith. The next meeting will be 6 August with a picnic in the city park. Circle No. 4 met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bushong for potluck supper. 26 were present. Mrs. Clarence Snyder gave the missionary lesson and Mrs. Bushong devotions. The next meeting will be in July at the Dewart Lake home of Dr. and Mrs. O. C. Stoelting. TO ATTEND LUTHER LEAGUE MEETING AT LNDLANAPOLIS Tom Duckwall will attend meetings of the Luther League State Officers convention at Indianapolis Friday evening and Saturday.
