School News WHO’S WHO On 4 September 1941 Mr. and Mrs. Walter Pletcher became the proud parents of a new baby daughter. Nancy Ellen. Nancy has been a member of our elates since the fnrst grade. She has been in Booster club and in 4-H work. Some of Nancy’s favorites include shrimp, homemade ice cream, physics, home economics and psychology. Her favorite sports are basketball, minature golf and roller skating. Playing the piano is Nancy's hobby. As her pet peeve Nancy lists "girls who smoke.” If Nancy could make any changes in these last twelve school years, she would study harder and participate in more activities. \ After graduation she plans to attend Memorial Hospital in South Bend for nurses training. A stranger walked into Pud~e Barton’s store the other day wearing one of those "Chesterfield” eoata. When the boys saw the faney velvet collar. they broke oat laughing. The stranger seemed to ignore them and went on about his business. He even pretended he didn’t hear Windy’s remark about the “big city’ coat. Then, on leaving, he walked over to Windy. “I gather you find my coat peculiar.” he said. “Well, where I come from we’re so peculiar
WHO’S WHO David Deloss Weaver, son of Mr. and Mrs. Deloss Weaver, was born on 12 October 1941. He has been a member of the class of 1959 for twelve years. During those twelve years David has been very outstanding in the band program. He has also - participated in chorus and special music. Fried chicken, mashed potatoes. trigonometry. physics, “You’ll Never Walk Alone,” Lenoard Bernstein, and football are a few of David’s favorites. If David could make any changes he says he would work harder and study more. After graduation David plans to at tend college. The class of 1959 wishes him the best! Camp Fire Girls NE-WA TAH-NAHS The meeting was held at Bobby Stiver’s house. Carol Hostetler called the meeting to order. Judy Stucky read the minutes and called the roll. Next we initiated a new member. Lou Ann Glass by playing some tricks on her and giving her a Camp Fire Memory book. We had delicious-fudge made by Jane Stoelting and cakes sent by Mrs. Clark. The rest of our meeting was spent getting Lou Ann started in her memory book. Scribe. Bobby Stiver The SyracuScene . Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gray returned Saturday from two months on the west coast where they visited their son. Dana, in San Francisco and spent the second month in Los Angeles with friends. Mrs. E. L. Foshrink and daughter. Sally Jo, Mrs. A. J. Bauer, and son, Albert, and daughter. Jerry, and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Talmadge and sons. Greg and Mark, and Jane Stoelting all attended the Scholastic Art Awards Show in Fort Wayne Sunday afternoon. Sunday guests of Mr. and David Culberson at their “Oak Hill” home were their daughter and family. Dr. and Mrs. R. E. Card, daughter Kathy and son Jay of Muncie, Indiana.
