Lois Forster Tells Os Christmas At Roni Lois Held Forster, missionary at Roni in Nlgera. West Afirca. writes of Christmas at her post where she and her husband are missionaries at the Roni Boys Home in North Nigeria. West Africa. Lois is the daughter of Mrs. Sam Houser. Elkhart, former Wawasee resident. "We had a Christmas party this year—as much as you can have a Christmas party for some one that doesn't' know what Christmas is. "The Chief of this district has four wives that are locked in. They never get toi go out to see anyone but have women go in to see them. “I visit them quite regularly. I have asked the chief in past times to let them come to see me but he says that he doesn’t wantaby of the common people to see them. I kept on '■oaxing and he said that if I would come in a car at night he would agree "The Saturday before Christmas. I went for them and brought them here. We went first to the Jacksons and as soon as we got Inside of the house they got right down on the floor and greeted. Then they spied the children’s toys and thought them wonderful. "They then came over to our house along with Lavina. The ladles got to see both Thadd and Chuck and they were possibly the first white men that they had ever seen. As soon as they saw them they again wenttp the floor and looked up and/greeted. "I let them look through, the house and it was all such a marvel to them, probably like if we were to look into a modern house of today thirty years ago. They looked at the stove and fireplace and said "There is no smoke.” The only stove they know is three rocks with their cpoklhg pot on it. "When they had settled down (on the floor), as much as they could settle down. Lavina told them the Christmas story with some pictures that I have. She; asked them If they knew what i Christmas was and the one dear j girl, only about 30 years old.i
