Four fines of $18.75 each were paid for traffic violations last Friday by Larry Laird, Syracuse; Geneva Oldfather, Mishawaka; Leon M. Ringenberg. Nappanee; and John D. Corbett of Marion. Hearing on case of Charles E. Hampton was set for 6 September No traffic arrests by either state or local police were reported for the three-day holiday week end in Turkey Creek Township for trial before the justice of the peace. Little League Baseball JUNIOR LEAGUE Tourney finals were played Tuesday 26 August with the Lions winning from the * Bank 3Awards were given at the conclusion of the game as follows: Batting trophy, Tom Kramer .428. Blue ribbons were given to each member of the Lions team for winning the tourney, and to the Bank team for winning the League championship. A League trophy also was given to the Bank team, and a Tourney trophy to the Lions. Highlighting the final hour of the evening was a surprise treat by the Thornburg Drug. Lakeside Bakery and Pilcher’s Shoes, who treated the more than sixty junior leaguers present to cake and ice-cream cones. PONY LEAGUE On Wednesday the Yanks beat the Cubs in the final game as Dan Caskey of the Yanks pitched a no-hit, no-run game. Final standings: Sox 5-3; Cubs 4- Yanks 3-5. John Lantz of the Sox received the batting tropny with a .333 average. Whites Win 6-0 From Grays In All-Star Game In the final game of the season. the Junior League All-Star game, played Friday 29 August, the Whites won 6-0 from the Grays. This was the fifth shutout of the Junior league season. Whites 3 0 0 0 0 3. 6 runs, hits. Grays 0 0 0 0 00. 0 runs, f hit. Tom Kramer and Dennis Buhrt pitched three innings each for the Whites and Jerry Thornburg and Clifford Wogoman three innings each for the Grays. In closing the 1958 League season, the teams express their thanks to the parents, sponsors, managers, coaches, umpires, scorekeepers and all others who helped to make this summer of baseball possible. Baugher and daughter, Emily Jane, of Detroit, Michigan, spent the week end in the homes of their parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Kern. Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Baugher. Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Anderson arrived in New York from Panama a week ago Saturday and are now in Washingeon, D. C. They are expected to arrive in Syracuse at the home of Mrs. Anderson’s mother.
