E.U.B. Service Guild The Christian Service Guild of the E. U. B. Church met at the home of Mrs. Ted Pauls Wednesday evening 28 May with Mrs. Gene Kitson as cohostess. Sixteen members were present and two guests, Mrs. Clarence Young and Mrs. Carrie Champlin. Mrs. Perl Rhoades gave the lesson on Strengthening the Church thru Sharing the Kingdom. The lesson was conducted around a table representing a spiritual banquet. Mrs Charles Disher. Mrs. Robert Janney and Mrs. Max Workman presented a playlet entitled Sharing the Whole. The program was concluded with reconsecra tion prayers by Mrs. Rhoades. Mrs. Kenneth Foulke, Mrs. Raymond Newcomer and Mrs. John Craw. . Mrs. Vearl Gaff, recently returned to the community from Arizona, was welcomed back into the Guild. During the business meeting, programs for the new year were distributed. Mrs. Ted Pauls and Mrs. Foulke were named as delegates to the WB.WB. convention to be held at Oakwood 9 to 11 June. Mrs. Charles Disher was named alternate. Benediction was given in unison. The next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. Theo Thomas 25 June. z . FOUR ESCAPE SERIOUS INJURY IN 2-CAR CRASH Four persons escape serious Injury Tuesday night in a twocar crash an Road 13 Dear Ideal Beach. A ear driven by Mrs Lena Schaaf. RJLI, Warsaw, reportedly struck a car driven by Vernon Sholtey who was accompanied by his wife and 14year old son. The two cars spun around, skidding some 200 feet and landing side by side in a pond by the roadside. All occupants were badly shaken up, were treated at the Goshen Hospital and released.

A 1958 graduate of Syracuse High School, the bride-elect is employed as a clerk at the Weatherhead Company in Syracuse. Her fiance graduated from Goshen High School in 1955 and is employed al the Goshen Manufacturing Co. On The Fairways . . . MAXWELTON LADIES Thirty-six ladies played golf at the Maxwelton Golf Course Tuesday. Elly Blakesley won the 18-ho’e low gross. Mary Jane Christine, low net, and Lois Xanders, low putt. Nine-hole winners were Maxine Baker, low gross; Anne Yeater. low net. Next week the club will begin their regular luncheons at the newly decorated Pickwick Lounge.

Wawakeechie Home Demonstration Club Mrs. Paul Christine presented an Interesting lesson on “Salads For Parties” at the 28 May meeting of the Wawakeechie Home Demonstration Club, held at the Turkey Creek Conservation Club. Members then sampled the demonstration samples provided by Mrs. Christine. The meeting was opened by Mrs. Bemita Ruple. with the meditation given by Mrs. George Myers. Song of the month was ‘Smiles.” also given by Mrs. Myers. Mrs. Herbert Michaels presentee? the garden lesson. Hostesses for the delicious luncheon which proceeded the business meeting were Mrs. Ray Denzel and Mrs. Roy Myers. Spring decorations, including ’ittle paper hate, graced the tables. Roll call responses were “What Mother Did Is Out Moded Today.” A club trip scheduled for September was also discussed. The SyracuScene . . . Mr. and Mrs. Mel Hefner of Fremont. Mr. and Mrs. William Geirer returned home Friday from Bai tavia, Ohio, where they spent ♦wo weeks visiting their son. Pev. Gerald Geieer, and family. They returned with their grandson, Paul, and Wife, of Mlamisville. Ohio, who came to attend the Milford alumni banquet. Mrs. Geiger graduated from Milford. Mrs. Viola Smith of Elkhart spent Decoration Day with her nephew and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Orn. They attended services at Milford Friday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Orn of Ligonier spent Sunday with his brother and wife. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Orn. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bixler spent Memorial Day in Indianapolis. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Robertson and daughter of Indianapolis were guests several days of her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Bixler. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Cripe and family spent Memorial Day with the Harold Curry family at Columbia City. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Miller and children of North Webster spent Friday evening at the Wm. Geiger home. Mrs. Miller is recovering from a fall off stepladder while washing windows.

Plan for the town of Syracuse and contiguous area was discussed at the regular meeting of the Town Board Tuesday evening. The meeting called by the Plan Commission will be held 17 June. 7:00 p.m. in the town hall of Syracuse. Legal notice of this meeting is published this week. Board members gave permission to the Church of God to cut down ground near the church to sidewalk level. Fire department maintenance and questions were considered and there was further discussion on the radio call system. Joe Bushong, chairman of the Park Board, was present to receive advice on handling of park furniture and equipment. The SyracuScene . . . Bill Langley Graduates ’ From Gilmour Academy William J. Langley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles B. Langley., Ogden Island. Lake Wawasee. graduated from Gilmour Academy. Gates Mills. Ohio. Monday, June 2. During his four years at Gilmour. Bill has participated in intra-mural sports and was on the varsity tennis team during his senior year. During his sophomore year he was a class officer. He has adso been active in the Bowling League and in the* Dramatics Club. In the fall Bill plans to attend either Notre Dame or Dayton. ORDER OF EASTERN STAR ’ Memorial services were held for members of the local chapter of the Order of Easetm Satr at their regular meeting Wednes-4 day 28 May. Committee members for the table decorations and refreshments were Mr. and Mrs. Melvin - Dapp. Estelle Swartz and Lilly Rodabaugh. Initiation will be conducted for new members at the next , meeting 11 June.
