bomb, the guided /missle. our many complex network? of communication. and most important, our compulsory education system. I speak for the souls, efforts, and lives of great Americans who have left these achievements for us. I speak for America; a land of freedom. I speak for our Constitution with its Bill of Rights, for Gettysburg, and for the many heroes in many wars which have made freedom come alive for mankind. I speak for America: a land of opportunity. I speak for the beauty yet to be uncovered, the progress and inventions, yet to be made, and the freedom that is yet to be extended and used to its fullest extent. I speak for education: the bulwark of our nation. Henry Brougham, author of The Pre sent State of the Law wrote. "Education makes a people easy to lead, but difficult to drive: easy to govern, but impossible to enslave.” Our education system is the greatest defense for our country. Therefore. I speak for education. There is never a man so free as when he is educated. It is not only our duty but our privilege to take advantage of the education that has been offered to us. I speak for freedom. I speak not only for the defense of the freedoms we have but also for the freedoms now ignored. We must realize the true worth and value of all of the freedoms granted to us. in order to use them to aid the welfare of our country. We should defend, today. the freedom from ignorance. hate, and intolerance to the fullest extent. I speak for peace. One cannot help but be dismayed by the remoteness of this word. To have found and defended our freedoms. not only for Americans but for the whole world and to have educated mankind to understand these freedoms. Is to have found peace. This is a difficult task, but it has been left for you and me. Only when we realize our freedoms, can we instill them in the minds of others: thus a desire for freedom from all x forms of enslavement will become a living, vital, growing thing. With this large task achieved, not only Americans but all mankind shall have attained freedom and eventually Peace. I speak for America. I speak for a land of freedom, a land of patriots, and a land of opportunity. I must serve my country well; I must keep it and a land of opportunity. I must keep it glowing and strong. I speak for America - “With liberty and justice for all.” “I SPEAK FOR AMERICA BY VIVIAN FISHER America is a wonderful and interesting sound. It stands for freedom, liberty and peace. It is a land where all kinds of people live. We have a process of Americanization for foreign people to fit into American Life. Americanizing is a two-way process. not only does the immigrant learn about our ways, but he also teaches his ways. Immigrants have made important contributions to American Life. Our form of government is a good example of how other countries should pattern themselves. Our rights, granted by the constitution, are many and very generous compared to the few rights of the other countries Shouldn’t we be proud of this wonderful land! We have our problems, too. such as segregation. All negroes aren’t bad as we sometimes picture. They are human and God created them equal to us. except their skin pigment. If they are bad it could be caused by environment just like it is for bad white people. Where would we be without some of their contributions to science and the entertainment world? They’ve contributed a world’s difference in our Rock and Roll music which is knocking the nation on its heels at the present. We are often confused between boasting and pr Midness After all. in war, every American, regardless of the color of skin, is fighting for freedom. I believe its a sin to have fighting among ourselves. We axe immigrant* the same as the Nigero. Mexican, etc. So I think

they have just as much right to our wonderful freedom as we do. My feelings for my country (continued from pagp 14)
