Caroline Coil To Open Riding School in June Miss Caroline Coil, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Coil, announces the opening of Fox Harrow Stables and Riding School on 7 June at the Cliff Detw.ler farm on county road" 48. ) Schooling of horses will be one of her specialties including hunters. Jumpers, hunter hacks and western pleasure horses. Mlsj Coll also will give instruction of forward seat riding and jumping, stable management, theory, practice teaching, showing and fox-hunting. Accommocations will be available for boarding horses. Miss Coil is a certified instructor and trainer. She will receive her degree in Equitation at Southern Seminary Junior College, Buena Vista, Virginia, in, June. Democrats Plan Fund Raising Dinner 3 May Tickets are now being sold by county Democratic precinct committeemen and party workers for a pre-prlmary dinner meeting to be held Saturday 3 May at the Westminster Hotel at Winona Lake. Warsaw Mayor Jack Engle, ticket chairman, said he plans Ur sell at least 300 tickets thruout the county at $5.00 a plate for the fund-raising meeting. A swiss steak dinner will be served beginning at 6 pm. Standard Time. Mrs. Hilary Bachman of Syracuse will furnish dinner music on the Hammond organ. George Bowers To Speak George H. Bowers. RJt. 1 Valparaiso, Democratic candidate for congress from the ►second district of Indiana, will be the featured speaker. Bowers is a graduate of University of Nebraska and has a farm background. Carlyle Caln of Pierceton will introduce the various county candidates and recognize such local candidates as township trustee candidates giving each an opportunity to speak briefly. Dale Wright of Washington township is general chairman of the meeting. Entries Start For 1958 Mermaid Festival Mermaid Festival Secretary. Marge Payne, reports today that four band entries have been received for the 14th annual Mermaid Festival Parade, to be held in North Webster Saturday afternoon, 28 June at 5:00 p.m. The early band entries are: 40 member Albany High School Band of Albany. Indiana: 123 member Bremen High School Band of Bremen. Indiana: 60 member Syracuse High School Band of Syracuse. Indiana; and the 56 member Pierceton High School Band of Pierceton, Ind. Plans are underway at each of the above schools for selections of a Mermaid Queen contestant to accompany the respective school band in the parade. Mrs. Payne reports. Mrs. Payne also reports that the Reiff Brothers of Larwill is the first business firm to enter a float In the commercial section of the Mermaid Parade. . Festival chairman, J. Homer Shoop reports that the Mermaid Parade will be filmed both in color and in black and white for showing in theatres and on T. V. Auxiliary Will Collect Used Clothing 23 April A used clothing drive has been announced by the American Legion Auxiliary for 23 April from 9:30 am. to 2:00 pm. at the Legion Home.. Clothing for adults and children is wanted. Low heel shoes are badly heeded. It is to be sent to needy people in the southern states. This takes the place of the clothing drive planned eartier in the year which was cancelled because of bad Intermediate Mothers Meet At Hilda's Shop Members of the Intermediate Mothers Club met on Monday evening 14 April for an evening of handcraft at Hilda's Home craft Shop in North Webster. Several beautiful trays in graduated sizes were made during the evening, made of both metal and wood. Announcement of the annual Spring party, which is to be held on 12 May at 6:30 pm. at the Oakwood Hotel dining room, was made by president Mrs. Leo Kowallik. The Junior Mothers Club is in charge of this years party. A light snack of tasty sandwiches and coffee was served by members of the hostess committee. They were Mrs. Noble Greene. Mrs. Nelson Auer and Mrs. Loren Longenbaugh. The next meeting will be held on 28 April at the home of Mrs. Auer. - F. R- SCHAAF OBSERVES 80th BIRTHDAY SUNDAY A birthday celebration honoring the 80th birthday of F. Richard Schaaf was held on Sunday 13 April. Friends from Syracuse. Gary, Dowagiac. Chicago, Bluffton.
