Local Freshmen Down No. Webster In Opener The local freshman basketball team got off to a slow start last Thursday but finally rallied in the third quarter to win a loosely played game 28 to 18 over North Webster. Playing on the freshman squad this year are Bob LeCount, Charles Folger, Tom Firestone, Jerry Rinker, Charles Crow, Doug Shock, Danny Caskey, Rod Bornman, Terry Markham, Carl Alfrey and Tom Michael. Tippecanoe Township PTA Holds Open House A Thanksgiving theme was used by Rev. Clayton Mock at the Tippecanoe Township PTA open house meeting Tuesday night during the devotional period. s Two grade school girls, Jackie Kuhn and Phyllis Wood, sang a duet and three more girls joined them in singing another number. They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. J. T. Wood. Mrs. Beach, membership chairman, reported 179 registered members at the beginning of the meeting with the exception of addled members before the evening session ended. The membership prize will be awarded at the meeting in December. ’ A short history of Indiana was given by Floyd Baker, high school history instructor. William Pearl, PTA president, dispensed with the business session since Tuesday night was open house in the school. Teachers took their places in their respective rooms and parents and families visited the rooms, consulting the teachers about problems, if any, and inspecting samples of school work done by the students. , Refreshments were served at the conclusion of the tour. NEIGHBORHOOD COFFEE BREAK AT PAPAKEECHIE Mrs. Ray Smalley, Papakeechie Lake, entertained several neighbors for the regular “Coffee Break” meeting on Tuesday morning 19 November. Work was started on a “bean bag” project for the children of the Kosciusko County School for Retarded Children, and it is hoped that the project will be completed in time for Christmas gifts for the youngsters. Present were Mrs. Al Graf, Mrs. Herbert Yoder, Mrs. Sam Coppock, Mrs. Delos Smith, Mrs. Donald Smith, Mrs. James Galloway and Mrs. George Myers and Mrs. William T. Jones, Jr. who assisted Mrs. Smalley* Mrs. Herbert Yoder will be hostess at the next coffee session on 10 December. Local News . . . Mrs. Ralph E. Thornburg attended the wedding of her nephew, Robert Shinn, to Miss Sandra Gotshall, Sunday in Marion at the First Methodist Church. Her sister, Mrs. Charles Clark, returned home with her for several weeks’ visit.
