Obituary.... RICHART Ernest Allen Richart, 75, of Syracuse, died Friday morning in a Goshen nursing home after an illness of 18 months. Lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, Mr. Richart was a former sa’e auctioneer and before his iilners was employed at a Wawasee -boat livery. Born in Van Buren Township 23 March 1882, he was the son of R'v. O. L. and Ida (Clayton) Rich art. Mr. Richart spent most of his life in the Syracuse commun ty. He married Freda Kaiser in September 1904. She preceded him in death in February 1948. He was a member of the S yracuse United Brethren

Church. Survivors include three sons, Ernest and Merrit of Fort Wayne, and Carlton, a sergeant in the Army in Germany; three daughters, Mrs. H. A. Mick of Elkhart, Mrs. Katherine Codie of Vandalia, Michigan, and Mrs. Max Carlson of Syracuse; his step-mother, Mrs. Jane Richart, Rockford, Ohio; one brother, Verl, of Marcellus, Michigan; one sister, Mrs. Fay Yant of Columbia City: eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Two daughters preceded him in death. Services were held at the Harris Funeral Home in Syracuse at 3:00 p. m. EST Sunday with Rev. John Schroeder officiating. Burial was in the Syracuse Cemetery. RIPPEY Mrs. Mabel Scott Rippey, 74, a lifelong resident of the Benton community, died early Thursday morning at Goshen General Hospital to which she was admitted Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at her home. The heart
condition followed a two-week ilness caused by influenza. Mrs. Rippey was bom in Benton Township, three miles north of Syracuse, on 5 May 1883, a daughter of George and Alice Juday Sarjent. She married Edward Scott in 1903 and he died 3 June 1943. On 10 January 1953 she married Joseph E. Rippey and he survives. Mrs. Rippey was a member of the Benton Methodist Church, the W. S. C. S. and the Benton Home Demonstration Club. Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, Wilbur D. Scott, Goshen; three daughters, Mrs. William A. Bradford and Mrs. Joseph M. Bradford, both of Goshen, and Mrs. Leßoy Reeder, Elkhart; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Raymond and Roy Sarjent, both of the Benton community; and a sister, Mrs. George Snyder of Fort Wayne. Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p. m. in the Methodist Church at Benton. Burial was in Jackson Cemetery. BADER Louis Bader, 77, of North Webster, died Monday afternoon at the Whitley County Hospital in Columbia City following a stroke. Mr. Bader, a retired tool and die worker, had been ill only 12 hours. He was born in Switzerland 8 June 1880 and lived in the North Webster community for the past 12 years, having resided at Chicago and New Castle before that time.* He was a member of the Elks Lodge in New Castle. He married Louise Thoman in 1931. She preceded him in death. Survivors include one son, Robert, of Glenview, Illinois; two daughters, Mrs. G. W. Denton of Fort Wayne, and Betty Pittenger, Dearfield, Illinois; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services were held at the Troxel Funeral Home in North Web-, ster this afternoon at 2:00 p. m. with Rev. J. Temple Wood officiating. WELLER Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the North Webster Church of the Brethren for Mrs. Bernice Weller, 52, of Elkhart, who died Sunday at her home following an illness of one day. She was bom 30 June 1905 near North Webster, the daughter of Charles and Ida (Booth) Bigler. In 1932 she was married to George Weller. Mrs. Weller, a school teacher, had resided in Elkhart for the past 15 years and was a member of the Elkhart Church of the Brethren. She is survived by her husband, George; her mother, Mrs. Ida Bigler of North Webster; one brother, Ray Bigler of Detroit, ' Michigan; and a sister, Mrs. Virgil (Mary) Mock of near New Paris. Rev. Foster Statler of Elkhart officated and burial was in the North Webster Cemetery.. McKinney Funeral services were held at 2:00 p. m. Tuesday in the Apostolic Church at Bourbon for Mrs. Catherine McKinney, 82, of Bourbon, who died Saturday morning in the Bremen hospital after an illness of three months. It was also the 45th wedding anniversary observance for Mr. and Mrs. and Frances (Walter) Inbody. She married Daniel McKinney in 1916. He died in 1954. Mrs. McKinney resided in Bourbon the past 15 years. She moved there from Goshen. Surviving are three nieces, Mrs. Myrtle Miller of Syracuse, Mrs. Ruth Russell of Elkhart, and Mrs. S. R. Stage of Phoenix, Arizona; and one nephew, William McKibben of Millersburg.

Ketering. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Harris and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Martin and three children, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Norton and family, all of Warsaw, Mr. and Mrs. Alva Ketering and the Paul Harris family. DEMONSTRATION PARTY Mrs. Robert Byrd of Syracuse was present at the home of Mrs. Deloss Smith on Thursday 14 November where she gave an excellent demonstration of a complete line of children’s toys and games to the guests assembled there. Those attending were Mrs. Charles Johnson, Mrs. Lester Clapp, Mrs. Herbert Yoder, Mrs. Donald Smith, Mrs. James Galloway, and Mrs. Al Burson. Mrs. Smith served a perfection jello salad topped with whipped cream, assorted crackers and coffee.
