Hospital News . .. Robert McClintic was dismissed from Goshen Hospital Thursday following major surgery performed 6 July. Mrs. Ray Fleischauer underwent surgery at the St. Joseph Hospital in Fort Wayne Tuesday 9 July. She returned home Thursday noon and is reported to be improved. Nelson Miles submitted to minor surgrey in the Methodist Hospital at Fort Wayne early this week and is now at home. TEXAS TALL MAN VISITS THORNBURG’S SATURDAY Locks “Tex” Martin, Texas Tall Man, visited Thornburg’s Drug Store for about ten minutes last Saturday morning. This seven foot, seven inch tall Texas, dressed in typical cowboy costume, unfolded himself from a Ford convertible (the top was inconveniently up because of rain) and visited with several people in the store before continuing his trip to North Webster and other stores on his tour.. Accompanying “Tex” was Jim Wade, salesman for the Pangburn Candy Company of Fort Worth, Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Kroh were home from Purdue University for the week end. Milford Whips Chiefs In Game Last Week Milford defeated the Chiefs by a score of 10 to 2 in Wednesday night’s game last week. Held to only three hits by Speicher, the Chiefs were nicked for eight by Milford. John Thornburg & Tom Miller shared the pitching duties for the Chiefs and were a little bit on the wild side, walking five and hitting three batters. Altho outhitting Rochester 13 to 12, the Chiefs played a very loose brand of ball and were behind all of the way. Rochester plays Warsaw next while the Chiefs are now out of it. The boys hope for better support next year and hope to win more games. The Chiefs were down two-one going into the fourth when they came up with five big runs. Next home game is tonight when the Chiefs tangle with Warsaw. On The Fairways South Shore Ladies Two new members, Katie Bresnahan and Evelyn Alsbaugh, and two guests, Florence Salandeau and Jackie Busher, joined the club members Tuesday for their games Tuesday, followed by lunch at the club. Winners of the 18-hole play were Susan Bartlett for low gross; Mary McCoy, low net; and Carolyn Holden, low putts. Lillian Bartlett, playing nine holes, won low gross, Gale Van Zant, low net, and Isabel Stockberger, low putts. A Round Robin tournament is in progress for three weeks.
