School will be out Friday noon for students; the teachers will spend the afternoon grading papers. POLIO DRIVE AT SCHOOL Envelopes for the collection of dimes for the Polio Fund were distributed this week to every pupil in the school. Students are to return the cards by Tuesday 29 January. The polio fund drive is to be completed by the end of the month. SEVENTH GRADE TO BE GIVEN HEALTH EXAM On 22 and 24 January Dr. John Johnson, director of the Kosciusko County Health . Department, will conduct physcial examinations of the seventh grade students of Syracuse, As a part of the Health program, this examination is done for the purpose of advising health precautions and practices. Parents are welcome to attend for consultation. Members of the local PTA will give Dr. Johnson clerical assistance. COUNTY WORKSHOP FOR TEACHERS HERE SATURDAY Teachers from all the schools in KoSciusko County except Warsaw will attend an all day workshop at the Syracuse School Saturday. Glen Whitehead, county superintendent, will preside and there will be specialists present to conduct discussions dealing with five principal topics: (1) Problem of the bright and retarded student; (2) ( Physical education for grades 1-12; (3) Citizenship and discipline; (4) Report cards; and (5) Remedial reading in primary grades. Lunch will be served in the school cafeteria. SECTION in. That in furtherance of the provisions of Sections I and II of this ordinance a cumulative building and sinking fund is hereby established and the board of trustees of the town are hereby empowered to levy annually, subject to the approval of the State Board of Tax Commissioners, until 5 years after the approval of the proposed fund, a tax on all taxable property in said town of 25c on each SIOO.OO of assessed valuation. SECTION IV. That following the final passage of this ordinance, due and legal notice thereof shall be givenYo the taxpayers affected thereby, before such proposed action shall be presented to the State Board of Tax Commissioners for approval, and the board of town trustees shall provide for a public hearing thereon, all as required by the applicable statutes of the State of Indiana.
