Tourney Games (Continued From Page 1) ferent and there were some happy monents and many sad affairs as team after team dropped out, with the 1956-57 Kosciusko County Tourney Trophy going to the, Etna Green Cubs, who played terrific basketball and put out the Pierceton team, who were defending their county championship of the year before, in the final game at Warsaw. Congratulations to the North Webster cheerleaders, who for the second straight year, won the Cheerleader’s Trophy. Nice game played against the Beaver Dam team, fellows and coach! All fans were happy and confident of the Yellow Jackets, perhaps too confident were the team, as they were put out of play in their second game. Last year the Jackets gave Milford a real scare during their first game of the tourney, but were defeated by a score of 56 to 51. Here’s hoping the Jackets can add some wins to their schedule before ending the basketball season. Locals really have a tough schedule coming up with Nappanee, Etna Green and Ligonier, all top-notch teams. Good Luck Boys! We all know you will do your best. Personal thanks to Barbara Bitner who kept notes and scores for the two Jacket games played. Work kept this reporter from attending, but with the radio and ■he help of Barbara, we hope this column will be acceptable. Mentone's Tom Hoover set a new record for a single game of scoring during county tournament play by chalking up 39 points during the Pierceton-Men-tone ball game, in which Pierceton won to go on to the final game with the Etna Green Cubs. Bill Dorsey and Jim Caskey were among players selected on the Times-Union 1957 All-County Tournament first and second teams, and they will receive a trophy, chosen solely on the basis of their performances during the tourney, at the annual Pre-Sectional Fish Fry to be held Monday night 11 February at Sidney. Congratulations fellows! Jackets are proud of you. Locals next game will be tomorrow night against the Nappanee Bulldogs in the local gym.
