Obiitnary .... BABCOCK William Russell Babcock, 77, retired farmer and real estate dealer, died at the Mock Nursing Home, Wilmot, 7:30 p. m. Thursday, where he had been a patient for the past four years and eight months. He had been ill about five years. Bom at Pierceton 17 July 1879, his parents were William A. and Catherine Leedy Babcock. He was married in 1900 to the former Bertha Daniels who died in 1938. His last residence was in LaPorte and he formerly resided in South Bend and Piecreton. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs Floyd (Helen).. Gray, Syracuse: Mrs. Lawrence (Armilda) Macht, South Bend; and Mrs. Ralph Velma) Evans; Claypool; seven grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Services were held Sunday at 2:00 p. m. at the Harris Funeral Home with a Christian Science reader officiating. Burial was in the Washington-Uunior Cemetery near Pierceton. FIDLER Fred Fidler. 67, well known retired r oilier, died of a heart ailment Wednesday evening 9 January at his home nfear North Webster. Mr. Fidler had been in failing health for three years. Bom 20 February 1889 at North Webster, he was the son of Elias and Dessie (Weimer) Fidler On 2 November 1913 he married Harriet Crouch. For many years he operated grain mills at North Webster and Lees, burg. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Leesburg. He leaves his widow; a son, Maurice, of Leesburg, and two grandchildren. Last rites were held Saturday at 2:00 p. m. in the Troxel Funeral Home with Rev. Chester Reed officiating. Burial was at North Webster with graveside rites conducted by the Masonic Lodge. CALVARY E. Searfoss-Hiclcman Wedding Saturday Miss Shirley Jean Hickman became the bride of John Phillip * Searfoss at 7:00 p. m. Saturday 12 January at the Church of God. Rev. Elvin Hoffman performed the double ring ceremony in the J presence of the immediate fam- 1 ilies and a few close friends of the couple. 1 Miss Martha Firestone pre- | sided at the piano with tradltional wedding music. Arrangements of white snapdragons and red carnations decorated the church. Given in marriage by her fa- * ther, the bride wore a winter white suit and carried a bouquet of red roses. Miss Darlene Hickman, maid of honor and sister of the bride, wore a navy blue suit and white carnations. * Morgan Sloan, cousin of the groom, served as best man. A reception was held in the church basement following the ceremony. Nancy Beamer, Sylvia Hart, Verla Clayton and Mrs. Jack Hickman served. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Dale Hickman and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Hibschman, • all of Syracuse. After, a short wedding trip the couple will be at home at Oakwood Park.
