Mothers Clubs Have Annual Spring Party The Senior Mothers Club was hostess to the Mothers Clubs of Syracuse at a joint spring party Monday evening at the Oakwood Hotel. Ninety-five members were r present. From a lawn table underneath a flowery umbrella punch and tasty hors d’oevres were served by Mrs. John Sheire and Mrs. John Weatherhead. Mrs. Sheire, as chairman, Mrs. Weatherhead * and Mrs, John Pusti were the committee which had made the appetizers. A dinner of fried chicken was served in the dining room from tables decorated with flowers and little handkerchief parasols which were favors for the guests' and had been made by the hostess club. It created an atmosphere of springtime for the occasion. Thanks to Mr. Beckman for the use of the lawn table and umbrella. Mrs. John Roddie introduced Mrs. Blocker as mistress of ceremonies. The first part of the * program was a playlet presented by the Professional Models Club of South Bend. Four ladies gave “Ten Flights Up.” Wava Shaffer of Mishawaka pantomimed the song “Good Night Baby” and also gave several tap dances. Mrs. Blocker told how the club had looked forward to and had planned for the spring party this year. She then introduced the president of each club. Mrs. George Bushong, president.of the Junior Mothers Club, introduced her retiring officers and the new officers and told of the program they had last year. It is their club which sponsors the kindergarten class. Mrs. Loren Longenbaugh, kindergarten teacher, spoke briefly of their appreciation for the new room and equipment. She said she is looking forward to the sixty-one pupils including two sets of twins enrolled for next year. The junior mothers presented her with a gift. Mrs. Robert Searfoss, president of the Intermediate club presented her old and new officers and told of programs and parties they had had during the year. This club sponsors the Brownie Scouts and they presented the leader, Mrs. Marshall Coy, with a gift. Mrs. Robert Shock, president, of the primary club, introduced years work and that they plan a project for next year. Mrs. Blocker then introduced the senior mothers club president, Mrs. John Roddie and complimented her and her officers. Mrs. Roddie introduced her officers who are serving again this next year. Each club presented its president with a gift. Mrs. John Sudlow had charge of door prizes which were won by Mrs. Howard Juday of the junior club, Mrs. Wayne Tarman of the intermediate club, Mrs. Allen Shively of the primary club and Mrs. Paul App of the renior mothers. Campbell and Mrs. Stella Lantz of North Shore Road, Wawasee, left by plane Thursday for Mission, Texas to visit the former’s nephew, Lt. John N. Schmidt who is being transferred to Alaska for two years. They will be accompanied home by the former’s sister, Mrs. Pauline J. Schmidt.
