6 Milford Farmers Sign Oil Land Leases Milford farm owners. Lee R. Cory. R. E. Slabaugh. Cleveland R Shuder.. Arron Wise. Hartter and Everett Butrick. have signed leases between themselves and the Severns Oil com- ! pany. of California, according to Wednesday’s Warsaw TimesUnion. A few weeks ago the oil company started drilling for oil on the old Werley farm, now owned by Raymond Pinkerton. A company spokesman reported that the leases give the company the exclusive mineral and oil rights on these properties. The new drilling operation is about three-fourths of a mile jwest of the old. well drilled back ‘ in 1934. The ten highest mountains in the world are in the Himalayan range in Asia The highest mountain outside this range is Aconcagua in South America, with a height of 22.834 feet.

Mock - Yohn Nuptials Held Last Sunday in Westminster, Maryland
Virginia Yohn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Yohn of New Windsor. Md., and Gordon Mock, son of the Rev. and Mrs. Clayton Mock of Syracuse were united in marriage Sunday at the Westminster Church of the Brethren in Westminster. Md. The Rev. Harold Bomberger officiated ,at the double-ring ceremony, and he was assisted \>y the Rev. Clayton Mock. Miss Yohn was given in marriage by her father. A reception was held after the ceremony in the church parlors. Mock graduated from high school in Stahley. Wise., and his bride is a graduate of Juniata College in Huntingdon. Pa. The couple returned to Syracuse Wednesday after a short trip to Mammoth Cave. Ky.. They will make their home in Middlebury, Indiana. Cubs Squeeze by Yanks In Pony League Game Playing in their last appearance of the season, the Pony League Cubs baseball team squeezed by a Yanks team which had a 3-2 lead going into the last inning. Swenson was the winning pitcher. He walked 5 and struckout 8. Losing pitcher was J. Thornburg for 5 1/3 innings, during whiqh he walked 7 and struckout 8. In the last 2/3 inning D. Thornburg walked one and struck two out for the losers. Next Pony League game, last of the season, will be played next Monday morning at 9 A. M. The Sox will meet the Yanks for the final game. Bank Blanks Lions In Monday Nite Game Blanking out the Lions Club team by a 3-0- score Monday night, the State Bank team of the Little League Baseball organization here brought their sea--on's, record up to 7 wins and 2 losses. In second place in league standings is Pilcher s Shoes with 5 and 2. Lions are third with 4 and 3 and the Rotary team has 9 losses. To Meet Twice Pilchers and the Lions will meet twice this week, on Thursday and Friday nights at 6:15 p. m. Next week the Little League tourney begins on Monday with Pilchers meeting the Bank Wednesday the Lions will meet the Rotary team and Friday 26 August. the winners will meet to decide the champs for this year. Crow Leading League With .611 Average Still maintaining a batting average that is slightly less than spectacular when set down on paper. Crow, a member of the Lions Club team in Little League Baseball here, leads • the league in batting with a .611 average. D. Wiley of the Rotary team holds second with .480. followed by Firestone of the Bank with .478. Caskey of the Lions is fourth with a 466 average and LeCount. of. Pilchers team, is fifth with .444.' Sixth and seventh in published averages, according to co-ordina-tor Loren Longenbaugh, are R Cramer and Myers, .of the Bank and Lions teams, with 421 and 416. respectively. Newcomer Trial Set for 6 September Ed Newcomer. Syracuse, is scheduled to appear before Justice of the Peace. Nolan September 6 after being arrested by Sgt. Ralph Powell August 5 on charges filed by Jesse Hapner of Syracuse. Hapner charged that Newcomer collided with him at the corner in front of Turtle Bay Trailer Park on old road 13 and failed to stop. Newcomer pleaded not guilty to the charge and posted $25 bond CABLE-STRIEBY Cable-Strieby reunion will be held 21 August at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Pipp of Syracuse Guests at the Edwin Little cottage. Mrs. Christine Wins South Shore Tourney Mrs. Paul Christine of Oakwood Park won. South Shore’s Club Ladies Championship Golf Tournament which ended Tuesday. Katy Graff of Gosherj was runner-up and the consolation award went to Miss Mytra Tilson of Indiana poll sand Wawasee. 5 A-Flight Championship winner was Doris Kessler of Warsaw. Mary McCoy of Warsaw and Carolyn Holden of Ligonier won the runner-up and consolation prize respectively. Nine-hole Championship Flight was won by Louise Stevenson. Lillian Bartlett was runner-up and Ruth Emerick won the consolation prize. M. Tilson Wins Tuesday In regular Tuesday play, the I “Partners Point System" for 18 holes was won by Mytra Tilson and Carol Todd with 79. Second place went to LaVerne Pace and Mary McCoy with a 73. Levinson Takes 3rd Fn National Regatta Harry Levinson of North Shore Wawasee and Indianapolis won ! third in National Snipe class 1 sailing competition in Allatoona. 1 Ga.. last week. Levinson had finished second in preliminary eliminations and thus became eligible for finals which began Wednesday. The race is sponsored by the Snipe Class International Racing Association. Twenty-four boats sailed in the final heats, with 56 entrants originally sailing in preliminary competition last week. Three Win Prizes In Art Exhibit Three Syracuse women won prizes in the art exhibit in connection with the Kosciusko County Fair. Mildred Denzel won third in hand decorated woodworking class, and second and third in the hand-made dolls or staffed toys class. Thelma Hattersley won third in metalcraft, and Ruth Banta won second in original ceramics and second in poured ceramics. and stole an estimated $1,500 from the safe. Walter Miller, Elkhart, assistant manager there, discovered the robbery when he arrived at work Monday morning and immediately notified state police. State Police Detective Dave Milburn was assigned to investigate the robbery. The safe was in an office at the front of the store. Entrance to the store was made in almost identical manner as the Chief Super Market in Warsaw a few months ago police said. The burglars cut a hole through the roof, dropped down onto air compressor boxes at the rear of the store, and wilked through the store to the office. They then opened the office door, found the safe, and succeeded in ripping it open.
