Has Monthly Meeting President Bernice Baugher opened the meeting of the Good Will Home Demonstration Club by leading the club in singing "America the Beautiful", and the song of the month. “Yankee Doodle", at the July meeting. Twenty-three members and six children were present at the Bert Whitehead cottage on Dewart Lake for a pot-luck dinner. The creed and club prayer were given in unison. Meditation was given by Mrs Floyd Brower, and response to roll call was a safety hint. Mrs. Fred Butt gave the secretary's and treasurer's reports. Sunshine gifts were distributed. Refreshments were served by co-hostesses Mrs. Dean Grady and Mrs. Russell Warner.

Notre Dame T V Outlet Goes on Air Last Friday
At 7 A. M. last Friday, July 15 WNDU-TV, the Notre Dame station, began commercial operation, it was announced by Bernard C. Barth, vice president & general manager. An NBC affiliate. WNDU-TV serves the South Bend-Elkhart area. Station plans are proceeded according to schedule and WNDU-TV became one of the few commercially operated stations in the country to hit air exactly on its target date. When he switch was thrown Friday A. M.. today, with Dave Gar row ay, was seen througout the entire northern Indiana, southern Michigan area for the first time from this market since it has been on the air. WNDU-TV started operations carrying 80% of the NBC program lineup. In addition to the network feeds, the station will originate locally some of the most high-rated syndicated film properties available. WNDU-TV. Channel 46 is now the third UHF station in this exclusively UHF market. Five studio facilities will be delayed for . two weeks. When studio facilities are completed, the station will originate live News. Weather. Sports and various public service and local entertainment features. To Start Degree Course One of the most unique and far reaching aspects of. the WNDU-TV operation will be the eventual establishment of a degree course in Communications Art at Notre Dame. The purpose of this program is to afford the students selected to 4 participate in the program first hand know’ledge Os the workings of a professional. commercial station. It is further proposed in this plan to invite on a “guest professorship basis" the leading members of the advertising and broadcasting field who will serve as mentors to the students matriculated in the Communications Art course. The studio and offices of WNDU-TV are located on the campus of the University and are housed in a building costing $750,000. Lakeside Church Still Up For Sale Sale of the lakeside property on Syracuse Lake by the Calvary Evangelical United Brethren Church is being continued, it was announced by Calvin Beck, president of the board of trustees of the church. Beck stated that the board had voted to hold the property at a certain price and that some of the bids were so close the board decided to hold the sale over for 10 days so that the interested parties could complete negotiations. The sale is a result of the consolidation of the Evangelical and Uhited Brethren Churches a few years back. Beck stated that the money from the sale will go for further building on the Calvary church. In Hoosier Company Indiana is the latest addition to the list of states joining in the Navy’s new recruiting system. Companies 321 and-322 are composed entirely of “Hoosiers.” Among them is Arthur D.
