Stephen Foster Theme At Chorallier Meeting Stephen Foster music was the theme of the Methodist Choralliers’ meeting Thursday 30 June, with Mrs. Ernest Bushong. Syracuse Lake. The foreward to the program was. a quote by Dr. Albert Schweitzer. ‘ Joy, Sorrow. Tears, Lamentation* Laughter ... to all of these, music gives voice”. The entire program was arranged by Mrs. Bushong who was the narrator. She also read an autobiography .of Foster, written by Mrs. E. L. Fosbrink. who was unable to be present. Judy Kline, 15 year old sophomore who won third in the Warsaw Music Contest this year, gave the only music not by Stephen Foster. Miss Kline played. “Holiday.” by Ethel Ponce. Mrs. Harry Appenzeller opened the program by playing “Memories of Stephen Faster,” and “Tioga Waltz.” “Oh Susanna.” was sung by Mrs. Clair Dreher, Frank Hale. Christian KOher, nad Mrs. Doris Woodward. Other songs were, “Camptown Races.” by Miss Catherine Connell. Mrs. Dreher. Blair Laughlin, and NeLson Miles; “Old Folks at Home.” by Mrs. Fred Clark and daughter Nancy; “My Old Kentucky Home." by Mr. Laughlin: “Jeannie with the Light Brown Hair.” by Mr. Koher; “Come Where My Love Lies Dreaming." by Mrs. Clark: “Old Black Joe.” by Mrs. CJark, Miss Connell and Mr. Miles: “Beautiful Dreamer,” by Mrs/ Herbert Stummer. The entire group of Choralliers sang. “Massa’s in the Cold, Cold, Ground". Refreshments of cookies of all kinds, mints, salted nuts, and coffee, were served from a table, laid with white organdy over pink, and painted to match the dishes of white with pastel colors. McClure,, and daughter, Gloria Lorraine, of Indianapolis were here for the holiday week end. Miss Gomez enjoyed sightseeing here, especially notingf the summer home of Mr. and Mrs. Eli Lilly, since she works in the Territorial Department at Eli Lilly Company, Indianapolis. She had come to Indianapolis to visit her sister and family, liked the city, and remained, although sjie may “in time, marry a German friend now in South America, and go to Germany to live.” Miss Gomez’ sister had met Mr. McClure, while he was an orderly in the Marine Corps, stationed in South America. Her father. Alirio Gomez Picon, was in the Diplomatic Service as Ambassador of Columbia, in Ecuador. and was connected with “El Tiempo” a newspaper there. Bowling . . . .
