The mishaps seem to follow no particular pattern. Some victims are young, some are old er. Several have been fishermen. Several have been swimmers. The most recent in the area was a young man who fell out of a boat on Tuesday and could not swim. Common sense and safe practices around the water are the i best prevention for such accidents Wawasee and Syracuse have been fortunate thus far this year. Let's hope that the record will stay clean, despite the poor statewide record. * * * Make it Attractive .. . Discussion at Tuesday night's meeting of the Syracuse Town Board centered around replacement of the shelter house at the public pier, at the foot of Main We are confident the board expressed the desire of the majority of citizens in stating that they wanted to replace or rebuild the structure as soon as possible. Let's hope' that the board is guided by the best of taste in designing a replacement for the | shelter that will present an ' attractive appearance from both

Our Readers Write . . . The following letter was received by Sara this week, author of the column, “Sara Cuse Says.” Tuesday, June 21 Your column often notes the activities of young people. Today, I had asked the following young men to help clear out our hedge: Dennis and Dallas Bjella, Ed Anglemyer, Tom Miller, Pat Connolly, David Weaver, Chuck Penn, and Billy Dorsey. Naturally I had expected to pay them, not what the job was actually worth, as it really was a big one, but some substantial pay. Upon completing a very difficult task, the young men told me they wanted no pay, they wished the money to be put in the party fund, and in their wonderful way’, it was expressing their appreciation for the parties that Mr. Clark and I have given for the young people. Such a heartwarming experience. I could pot let go by without some special recognition. It seemed to me to be a great gift of friendship, which Mr. Clark and I treasure. The job they did will be a help to so many, as it will cut down the mosquito population, and make driving safer around the curve. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts, boys! Ina B Clark Sara adds, “We checked the Clark place, a lovely stucco home, near the City Park, and noted the evidence of much real labor done.” ★ * * To The Editor: Just a couple of lines to tell you how much I look forward to receiving the Journal. It really means a lot to hear what is going on in the old home town while you are away. News about people you know is really appreciated when you are away I You don’t realize what the town was or how much it meant to you until you get away from it. So in closing thanks very much for sending the Journal and all the good news in it. Pvt. Carl E.
