Dear 4-H Members and Friends, i Now for toe chat about • policies for girl's work. Until re- > cently policies; have been a matter ■ of words and decisions reached . chiefly by extension office peri sonnel. A 4-H policy committee . was named this year by the chaii> man of the County 4-H Council. Serving on this committee were ' two parents and two women adult leaders along with yours truly, represting the extension office. Policies set up regarding enrollment are as follows; 1. "The new club year begins immediately following the county fair.” Actually this is a practice throughout the state and is stated here in answer to frequent questions of new members and leaders. 2. “Every girl in 4-H work should be en couraged to be enrolled in at least one home economics projects.” The thinking behind this was that every girl will be a homemaker someday, and that project work done now would be wisely selected to prepare for that future job. 3. "A member should enroll in the division of a project where she will learn something.” (For example, usually 14-year-olds should not enroll i n a first division of baking, clothing, food prepara- . tion. or food preservation.* , Members should be encouraged . to do a good job in one division rather than doing more than . one division in the same project. Generally speaking, no more than two divisions in the same project ; should be taken in one year and • one should lie completed before ’ the second is started. No credit ’ will be given for projects completed be tow those of greater difficulty already completed. 4. “A member who enrolls in
