1 Karen Juday, daughter of Mr. . and Mrs. Howard Juday, has been , ill since last Friday. Mrs. Merl Laughlin, Jr. under- ' went an appendectomy at the . LaGrange hospital on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Betas have * moved into the Effie Emerson house. The regular meeting of W.R.C. was held Friday night. An initiation was held. Luncheon was , served and the hostesses were Mrs. Effie Emerson. Mrs. Ber- ’ thz' Crafton, and Mrs. Orlie Brown. ’ Mr. and Mrs. Lavon Davis and family and Mr. and 'Mrs. Ronald Kramer and family will be guests of Dr. and Mrs. Robert 4 Craig for Christmas dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Kline. Judy and Philip will spend Christmas Eve with his mother, Mrs. Eaten Kline. The family will gather for supper and their gift exchange. On Christmas Day, Mr. and Mrs. Duane KUne and family will be'the guests of Mrs. Kline’s parents. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Firestone.

Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Klmpel and sons, John and Chuck, will spend Christmas with Mr. Kimpel’s parents, Mr. ad Mrs. William Kimpel, in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Mrs. Kimpel and children will remain in Ohio for a few days and will return with Mr. Kimpel after New Year’s. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Weaver and family will have Christmas dinner with Mr. Weaver’s daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Byland. ' * The former employees of the Pagoda Inn and guests enjoyed a Christmas party at the Pagoda Inn Sunday evening. Those who helped plan the party were Patty Harvey. Jean Kern, and Bill Li. Guests enjoyed aceordlan music by Kay Dettwiler and dancing by Mary Lou Denzel. Dick Denoel entertained with some magic tricks. . Ifr. and Mrs. Robert Searfoss had as their guests Saturday evening. The country home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett Dunn was the scene of the annual Christmas party given by officers of the Order of the Eastern Star. The home was decorated in the Christmas motif. A carry-in buffet dinner, the main course of which was a smoked turkey grown by Mr. Dunn, was served at individual tables to the officers and guests. The key to the gift exchange, held after the dinner was found on the individual place cards. Mr. and Mr*. Milton Wysong will spends drlstmas with their aon aad daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J, G. Wysong, in Kalamazoo. Mr. .and Mrs. Wysong’s other son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mr*. R. D. Wysong. and son Dick of South Bend, will also be present for the family dinner. Dick is home from Purdue for the holidays. . Mr. Gus Lychsell of So. Bend, called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wade Zerbe, on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Nicolai entertained at a Christmas dinner Sunday for their guests Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ringwald and Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Chaffee of Elkhart.

Lt. Stanley Carr, son of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Carr, arrived home Sunday evening for a tw-o w r eeks leave. He is stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Lt. Carr is serving as dentist in the U. S. Army and expects to be sent to the Far East about the first of February. Mr. and Mrs. Orval Carr and son. Stanley, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Carr wil Ispend Christmas with Mrs. Carr’s brother, Dr.- E. L. Hay, in Goshen. The annual Christmas dinber of the late L. W. Miller family was held last Sunday at the Benton Hall. A bountiful dinner Was served, and Santa arrived with gifts for all. There were 35 people present. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Thompson left December 22 for Florida. They will stay there for about three months. Mrs. Odessa Brunner of Fort Wayne has returned to her home after spending five weeks as guest of Mrs. Eva Cripe Edwards of Syracuse while her daughter and family. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Allen, were in Scottsville, Kentucky, during the serious illness and death of Mr. Allen’s mother,

Mrs. Ray Stookey. Mrs. Stookey was-buried last Sunday afternoon. The Allens will return to their home in Syracuse in the near future. Pf.c. John Connolly who is stationed at San Diego, will spend Christmas with Mr. and Mrs. Max Hunnicut in San Diego. Mr. and Mrs- Hunnicut are former residents of Syracuse. Rev. and Mrs. I. C. Allerton attended a Golden Wedding celebration Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ila Lake at Sweetser. t <■ Mr. and Mrs. Jr. Klrkdorfer. Susan and Jerry left Sunday for a two weeks vacation In Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Key West and other points of Interest in Florida. Mr. and Mrs. Emerson Ohllgschlager will leave Thursday for LaSalle. Illinois, to spend th£ holidays with their families. Mrs. Harriet Blocker and son, Ed, who is home for the holidays from Indiana University, will entertain Mr. and Mrs. Ed Brentner and family of Richmond, Indiana, on Christmas. Ed Blocker will leave December 26 for New York where he will spend ten weeks ■ with an accounting firm.
