Lake News ♦ (By ARDIS LARSON.) Wahasee. — Mr. Martin Levernler left last week for a week’s fishing at St. Marie, to be accompanied by his son, Lynn Levernler, and return November Ist. Mr. Levenler stopped off at Burt Lake. Mich., to visit friends. Mrs. John Alway has returned from a visit with her daughter. Mrs. Harriett Payne. Indianapolis, and will go this week for a stay at the Kenneth Alway home in Fort Wayne. Mr. Kenneth Alway will be home from New York for a short time and his wife will return with him. Mr. Alway is taking advanced schooling in a new factory timing system. Mrs. John Alway will care for the children In their absence. M and Mrs Rue Hunnicutt were week end hosts to their daughter. Phillip Paugh stayed at Goshen, and Peggy at Newcastle. Homie From Trip Mr. and Mrs. Roy Riddle returned Saturday from an eightday trip in Missouri and Arkansas. They visited “The Shepherd of the Hills” country, scene of Harold Bell Wright’s book of that name. This book, printed in 1907. became a best seller, third in sales only to the Bible and Uncle Tom’s Cabin. It is a book so descriptive of the area and people that the hill folks had no difficulty in placing certain individuals. The Ozarks, land of hills and hollows, rolls away to the far blue horizons like green ocean waves. Scattered over this beautiful .scene still stand the log houses, homes of the books captivating characters, who In real life lived the story. s ~ The Riddle’s returned from i this trip byway of Toledo, where i they visited a week in the home j of'their son.
