SYRACUM-WAWABEE JOURNAL, Syracuse, Ind.
(The home newspaper is sent free to all men and women in U. 8. Armed Services through cooperation of Wawasee Post No. 228 and The Journal) A letter from Pft. Robert Whaley tells of a short worry over missing the Syracuse-Wawa-see Journal, but it soon caught up with him, so he’s glad again. Whaley and a buddie went to Paris on a five day furlough ate well for from <31.010 to $1.50 our money—•2is'o Francs to our dollar —and went up on everything they could, and evidently the Eifel Tower was one of the best, the view being “just out of this world.” "Paris is a wonderful place—so are the people, even though they do not find it easy to converse.” They rented bicycles and went all over, saw two Studebakers in “Pig Alle” — the Eternal Flame over the Unknown Soldier—went to Amsterdam, people sleep in very small quarters there—young people there become engaged at 123 years, marry at 2*6 years—toured the Canal, and had a fine quickie of general education. Bob received a nice letter from Jon Bushong, in the Navy, who has been in some interesting waters, and near Korea. Bob says he still feels the Navy is the best branch of service.
