Scout News Cub Scout Pack >516 met Oct. 28 at the Scout Cabin. All the Scouts came masked for Hallowe’en. The opening was by Den 5. The boys showed the group various collections — everything from buggy tools to hub caps. Den 12 had a skit on a “Trip To Mars”. They brought back a “treasurer” which was two new members. The Scouts then tried to guess the identity of the masked boys. The judges chose Jim Graf, Jan Appenzeller and Charles Penn as q, Pictures In Sunday Star The Indianapolis Star will run a story in the magazine section on Sunday, Nov. 9 on the SmithWalbridge Camp at Boner lake. Beverly Daniels of Pensacola, Fla., one of the students at the camp, will be the cover girl on the magazine. The photographer took 300 shots to get about '2M) pictures Which will be in the magazine. Duke Miller of Phoenix, Ariz., ODO of the camp instructors and who was featured in Life maga-' zine this week, will also appear in the Star magazine pictures. LOCAL NEWS Mrs. W. T. Lisor, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clem F. Lisor, Sr., of Kale Island, has been promoted to the rank of Airman first class. Airman Lisor is a graduate of Goshen high school and attended Goshen college until he enlisted U. S. Air Force in February 19i51. After completing his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas, he was sent to Dental Technician school at Great Lakes, 111., where he received his certificate of award. From there he went to Westover, A. F. Base hospital, where he spent several months as dental technician. In May of this year Clem was sent to Saudi, Arabia, where he is working as a dental technician in the U. S. A. F. hospital. Pfc. Harold Hughes, who recently returned from nine months service in Korea, and Miss Mildred Gordon of Cornith, Ky., arrived Saturday to spend a week with the former’s mother, Mrs. Valeria Hughes. Pfc. Hughes was discharged from the U. S. Army Oct. 18, at Camp Carlson, Colo. He was inducted into the Army Oct. 9, 1950 trained at Camp Pickett, Va., and was sent to Korea Jan. 18, 1’91512.. S.R. Elmer Leroy Byrd is stationed at Great Lakes, 111. , LOCAL NEWS Leonard Barnhart was a guest of his son Lowell last Saturday for “Dad’s day” at Manchester College. Lowell accompanied him home for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Laucks Xanders and son spent the week end in Hammond, visiting Mrs. Xanders •parents. Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Dunkle of Goshen, aqd Mr. and Mrs. Christian Koher have returned from a trip through Kentucky, Tennessee and Ohio. Mrs. Everett Darr, who has been ill for the past two weeks, is improving, although she is still confined to her bed. Oakwood Park Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Gilpin and daughter Janet and son Tom, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Graham and sons Tom, Dick and Ray, all of Indianapolis, spent the week end in the Snider cottage. Jim and'Tommy did some fishing but reported the fish to be on strike. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Oberlin of Auburn, spent the week end in their cottage. Mr. and Mrs. O. L. Burgener of Fort Wayne, spent the week end in their cottage. Mrs. Shubert returned to her home jn Dayton, Ohio for the winter. Rev. and Mrs. M. E. Reed of Bippus, were in their cottage last Saturday, closing it up for the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Amick of Indianapolis, spent the week .end in their cottage. DEATHS MRS. NOBLE RINGLER Ellen Faye Ringler, 49, wife of Noble Ringler, died Sunday at 111 p ; m. in the Goshen hospital, where she had been a patient for one paonth. She had been 111 three months. Mrs. Ringler was born April 18, 1903 In Pentwater, Mich., the daughter of James and Mary (Garrison) Burson. In 1921 she was married to Noble Ringler who survives with three daughters, Mrs. Irene Dickerson, Kendallville, Mrs. Mildred Hoover and Mrs. Dolores Laßue of Syracuse, a son Marlin at home, several grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Clara Sawyer of Syracuse, and Mrs. Opal Strieby of Goshen, and a brother, Elmo Burson qf Milford. Funeral services were held at p. m. Wednesday at the Church of the Brethren of which Mrs. Ringler was a member. Rev. H. M. Landis officiated and burial was in the Syracuse cemetery. DAVID EUGENE SMITH Gravpside services were held at New Paris cemetery at 19 a. m. Monday for David Eugene Smith, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. -Forrest Smith, Jr., of Syracuse, who died at ft: o*9 p. m. Saturday at Elkhart General hospital where he was born at 12:120 p. m. Saturday. The Rev. Logan Weaver officiated. Surviving In addition to the parents are a brother, Michael; and the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Forrest Smith, Sr., of Lake Wawasee and Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Stiver, of New Paris. ALBERT E. WASS The body of Albert E. Wass, (61, who died in Battle Creek, Mich., Saturday, was buried Tuesday morning in Syracuse cemetery. Mrs. Wass was the former Mildred Edgell of Syracuse. Mrs. O. J. Rhode and Jean: spent Thursday and Friday In Fort Wayne as guests of Miss Priscilla Rhode.
