FEATURE STORY Are you tired of the cold weather we have been having the past few months? Are you longing for warm, sunny weather again? Do you long for summer's beauties and advantages? Are you ready to trade icy roads for hot ones? Then quit complaining and go to California! There is a real paradise on earth. California is the 20th Century State; the State of beauty, industry, agriculture, movie stars. year round sports, and on into nearly every imaginable field. If you would have seen the movie we saw Monday you would think that California was a make-believe land for make-be-lieve people. While we sat shivering in this cold, damp, part of. the world, we were watching a film in technicolor describing California! There were many things told us about the natural resources and industries but most of all, the summery atmosphere affected us. California ranks high in the oil, lumber, fish, gold, crop, electric, educational, etc. fields (etc. because there are so many more that it would take too long to write them.) Each of the more important fields was explained to us by showing how tremendous an output, the source,* or the manner in which the certain product or condition caipe about. A century ago you wouldn’t have recognized the State.! Lately, such improvements as! irrigation have practically worked miracles in California. Green pastures, instead of deserts. •' Dams, such as Shasta Dam, make irrigation possible. When you get right down to it, you can see why this is a good State, a beautiful State, and — boy! Wouldn’t you like to be I there? - —Audrey Hamman.
