SYRACUSE LAKE Mr. and Mrs. David Miller, formerly In an “At»” apartment, now of Ligonier, have a new baby, as of last Tuesday, at the Elkhart eGneral hospital. Little “Jerry” Jerome Eugene weighed eight pounds, and ten ounces. The William Stotts; old friends of the Millers, received word by phone, from the father, who seems to be doing okay. Walter Strader’s sister, Mrs. Bernard Marino, Mr. Marino, Janice, and twins Donnie and Dennis, from Moline, have moved into the Strader home, with Mr. Strader. Mrs. M. Bitner has been ill and confined to her home. Mrs. Bitner’s daughter, Mrs. Irene Newman, and daughter, Miss Dorothy were visitors from Chicago recently. Mrs. Bitner’s Illness started on her birthday. Dinner guests, last Sunday at the Floyd Gingerich home, were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Haas, of South Bend, Dessie Ness, of Osceola, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shively, of Leesburg. Mr. Tom Christman was confined to his home with a sprained ankle the past week. The C. J. Kinders’ were at Newton through last week at the home of Mrs. Kinders' mother, Mrs. D. M. Alfrey. Mr. and Mrs. George Rex had as their guests, Saturday, the latter’s neice, Mrs. Robert Bechtel, of Wakarusa, and her mother. Mrs. Frank Wehrly, of Nappanee. Mrs. Wehrly remained until Sunday, when Mrs. Daisy Best and Mrs. Opal Stauffer, of Nappanee, came to take her home. Mrs. Wehrly is planning leave soon, to spend the winter in Florida. Mr .and Mrs. Chancey Hibner spent, Saturday in Brown county. Rev. and Mrs. C. M. Fawns, of Akron, spent last Thursday evening with friends here. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Wills, of Logansport, Mrs. Georgia Miller and Mrs. Adah Miller were Sunday dinner guests, of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Miller and family. Mr. and Mrs. Eston Clayton and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rogers and two daughters and Frederick Clayton were dinner guests on Thursday evening of last week, of Mr? and Mrs. Eldon Clayton and family near Leesburg. The dinner was in honor of Eston Clayton, who was celebrating his birthday. Mrs. Garrett Grissom was hostess, to the Pythian club, in her home Tuesday. A pot-luck dinner was served, at noon. Harry Strieby, of Chicago, spent the week-end in the home of his father, Charles Strieby, south of Syracuse. Mrs. Arthur Fulton, of Claypool, spent a few days last week in the home of her step-father, Earl Baker and daughter, Beverly. Miss Edna Yoder spent several days this week, in Peoria, 111., in the home of her brother, Walter Yoder. Mr. and Mrs. Luther LeCount and family, of Elkhart, were guests Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Howard Juday. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Gray, Mrs. Harry Juday and Mrs. Alva Ketring attended the funeral of their aunt, Mrs. Frank Fuller in Pierceton, Tuesday afternoon. Mrs. Ada Zeltinger spent from Tuesday until Thursday, in Chicago. Mrs. Paul Harris and daughter, Dixie, of Winona Lake were guests Wednesday of the former’s sister, Mrs. Harry Juday. Mr. and Mra. Loren Longen baugh and two children attended the wedding of the former’s sister, Miss Esther Lois Longeti baugh to Lawrence Ijosler, of Claypool. The ceremony was performed on Friday evening, of last week in the home of the bride’s parents. Rev. and Mrs. I. B. Longenbaugh, southeast of Etna Green. Twenty-seven friends and relatives gathered at the home of William F. Swihart Bunday te give him a surprise birthday party. A co-operative dinner was served. Mrs. Clara Colwell was hostess to the Ladles’ Aid society, of the ‘Lakeside E. U. B. Church, in her home, Wednesday evening. Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Bailey, and Mrs. Pearl Koher atetnded the Rally day and homecoming, at the E. U. B. Church, in Churubusco, Sunday. They were dinner guests of Mrs. Katie Ort.
