B. & P. W. CLUB The B. and P. W. club met Tuesday evening, Aug. 13, at the Anchor Inn, with 24 members and three guests present. A new member, Charlotte McSweeney, was welcomed into the ciub. A delicious chicken dinner was enjoyed. The president, Helen Snobarger, gave a very interesting report on new developments of the clubs new project, a club house. Betty Connolly received the door prize, a beautiful bouquet of pink gladiolus. Lois Davis and Florence Foster each received a dozen white gladiolas as a going-away gift. Hostesses for the evening were Nell Laughlin. Catherine Connolly and Bernice Howard. Mr. and Mrs. John H. Evans and son, of DeMotte, Ind, were here Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Cox and family. Harry Bishop, MOMM3<. has been discharged from the Seabes and returned to the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Irving Bishop. Thirty attended the Cable family reunion held Sunday at the Guy school house. Mrs. Betty Walerius. of Elkhart, was a guest. Officers elected for 1947 were: president. John Cable of Elkhart, and Stella Swartz, secy.-treas. Blair Laughlin and his brother, of Chicago, spent last week-end in Ohio at the home of their uncle. This week, word was received of his death on Tuesday. Mrs. Neal Phoebus, of Sylvania. 0., is a guest in the home of her brother, Vem Long. Frances Deardorff, who underwent an appendectomy last Wednesday in the Goshen hospital, was removed to her home here Sunday. Goodwill Club w f The Goodwill Home Economics club met Aug. 7 at the state park at the flowing well for their any nual pdcpic. A basket dinner of fried chicken, dressing, salads of several kinds, pies, cakes, etc., was enjoyed. In the afternoon the meeting was called to order by the president, Linnie Brown. The club creed was read. Scripture reading was by Iva Coy, Blanche and Bernice Baugher. Prayer was by Alta Brower. It was voted to get Susia Hyndman a present. Several contests were enjoyed, which were won by MosceMne Deaton, Martha Lee Whitehead and Madge Chiddister. Jennie Stienbarger won the door pfize. There were 21 members and three guests present. The Sunshine gift was given to Alta Brower. Myrtle, Harold and Baihara Jo Dewart, of Peru, Ind., spent Wednesday here with Della Dewart, the occasion being the birthdays of Harold Dewart and Della Dewart.
