|The-SiCJ tedßetteOT Way WAR RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE Christian soldiers have openly expressed what they hope for and expect of the church when they return. Not what the church can do for them but what they can do for the church, to make Christ a living reality to the community it serves. They have seen and known faith in God as a vital force. They are no longer interested in a nambypamby type of church program that doesn't speak out against sin, that opens its doors and then sits down praying that someone will come in. They want a church and are . willing to help build it—a church that has reality, vitality and practicality and a church with vision, a will to sacniice. a determination to promote the cause of the Master. "I want Christ to be a realty in my church. tha% men might know him as their personal Savior and Lord. Not just mentioning his " name in prayer on Sunday and special holy days, but knowing the power of the presence of God in dally life." Thus speaks a soldier in a chapel discussion group Why not accept the Better Way and help make a Better World? , OurPreacherA wFv. He came a little sooner than the other fellows did, and stayed a little longer than the bther fellow would. He worked a little harder, and he talked a little less, and every little moment did efficiency express. He saved a little money, in a hundred little ways, and banked a little extra, when he got his little raise.—The Little Things. — TALKING TvO MI CH It is related that a parrot and a dog, being together in a room the parrot for the fun of the thing said to the dog, “Sic him " Seeing nothing else to attack, the dog went for the parrot, which lost a good share of its tail feathers before it escaped to its perch. It is said that the parrot, after inspecting the damage, said to him- , self “Poll, you talk too much." DAY OF PRAYER SERVICE Rev L. CHRISTIAN SCIENCE SERVICES “Love” is the subject of the Lesson-Sermon in all Churches of Christ, Scientist, on Sunday, February 3. The Golden Text is: “I will feed my flock, and I will cause them to lie down, saith the Lord God. I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was . tick* (Exckiel 34:15. 16). v Among the citations which comprise the Lesson-Sermon is the following from the Bible: “Behold, what manner-of love .the Father hath bestowed upon Us, that wc should be called the sons of God: For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.. Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him. My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth” (I John 3:1, 11.15.18). . The Lesson-Sermon also includes the following passage from the Christian Science textbook. “Science and Health with Key to the Scriptores” by Mary Baker Eddy : pines? is spiritual, bora of Truth and Love, ft is unselfish; therefore it cannot exist alone, but requires all mankind to share it. Human affection is not poured forth vainly, even though it meet no return. Love enriches the nature, enlarging, purifving, and elevating it ’ (p. 57).
