This year the Camellias had to be pampered for the occasion, while at presort the flowers are plentiful. The azelas are now coming on: nearly everj’ home has a few bushes. The tulip trees are also in bloom, their bark I resembling the design of exterior of a pineapple; the limbs are barren except for the large purple flower found at the tip of the twigs, usually white on the inside of petal The beauty- of the Country lies in the lagoons, with their large cypress trees, and Overhanging moss always present, giving it an aged appearance. A yankee is always amazed at the sound of wild ducks, which when none are found and inquiry made, you feel foolish to discover the sound originates from frogs. Out back of the dispensary you can see a couple hundred boys and girls’ taking physical education via the tennis court; the many out-door basketball courts, or horseshoe courts; and wind up on the obstacle course, boys or girls, as P. E. as it is called really emphasized down here, results in little sickness. On the other side of the dispensary lies the flat green* campus and it is certainly a beautiful one, always at least 30 or more students studying or perhaps picking fourleaf clovers for the girl friend.—Gene Snavely, Southwest Louisiana Institute. 2nd Lt. Mary Jane Kern, in the army nurses’ corps, who has been at Billings hospital at Ft. Benjamin Harrison the past month, has been sent to Camp Cappbell Ky. Mrs. Orval Snobarger and Mrs. J. E. Kern spent the day, Feb. 10th, with her at Fort Benjamin Harrison.
