FOREST FIRES STILL A MENACE TO WOODLANDS Forest fires are still a menace to Indiana woodlands and precautions must be taken by motorists, hunters and others to prevent the destruction of valuable timber and vegetation, Virgil M. Simmons, commissioner of the Department of Conservation, pointed out recent. While the danger of forest fire is not as great now as during the dry weather in October, a number of blazes have been reported in recent weeks, many of them started through carelessness. Care in handling matches, burning tobacco and debris will prevent many costly fires. U. B. CHURCH MAKES IMPROVEMENT'S Last summer, the United Brethren church folks improved the appearance of their house of worship by repainting the exterior. They have just completed reroofing a considerable portion of the building and contemplate interior redecoration in the near future. There had been some intention to cut the spire portion of the tower down to the main square of the tower, but because of many requests that it be left as it had been, it was reshingled and received two coats of aluminum paint.
