Mr. and Mrs. George A. Hire spent several days last week as guests of Mrs. Hire’s brother, L. J. Hire and Mrs. Hire in Zion, 111. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hire and family and with Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Farley Mrs. Everett Kettering, who has been ill at their Lake Wawasee home, has improved sufficiently to be moved to their store agpartment herei. She is now able to be up and is gradually regaining her usual health. Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Beck spent Sunday at Angola at the Jess Covell home. Mrs. Catherine Beck, A who had veen visiting there for several weeks accompanied them on their return trip. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Robison spent Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gustafson. Miss Annie Causer and Mrs. Willard Gustafson spent Tuesday afternoon in Goshen. 'Mr. and Mrs. Gary Robison spent Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Wilmot Jones, Jr,. , Mrs. Evelyn Murphy of South Bend was a visitor in the W. C. Gants home over the week-end. Mrs. Sadie Hire and Lois and Dora Davis spent Sunday afternoon at Wilmot and Wolf Lake. Mrs. Harold Miller and family are spending this week in Elkhart. Jack Stoelting “Free Hamburger at Dixie.”

Mrs. Bert Roak and daughter, Elva, were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Gants Sunday afternoon. Miss Gwendolyn Applegate spent Monday in Goshen. Mr. and Mrs. William Jarboe, Mr. and Mrs. Dewey Coy and son, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Klink, Mr. and Mrs. Dick Unrue, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Ward, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Foster, Mr. and Mrs. Vera Long, Mrs. John Byland, Sr., Ida Garrison, Lou Neff and Leonard Barnhart, all of this city, attended the funeraj of Mrs. Joe Burket in Burket, Sunday Rev. J. Edwin Jarboe of Lincoln, Nebraska, spent the weekend at! thl home of his son, William Jarboe. Rev. Jarboe is the pastor of the Church of the Brethren in Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Herman are in South Bend at the Nelson Dodge home. The Good Samaritan Class of the United Brethren church met at the home of Mrs. Charles Beck Wednesday afternoon. The Ladies’ Aid of the United Brethren church met Wednesday at the home of Thelma Weimer. Mr. J. V. Applegate, who is employed at Willard, Ohio, visited his wife and family for a fewhours Sunday, Mr. Roscoe Howard has had his trucks lettered with signs on the general lines olf those on C. W. Howard’s trucks.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Robison were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gustafson, Wednesday evening, the occasion being the birthday of Mrs. Robison. Mr. Robert Laird and Mr. Lavon Insley spent Sunday in Chicago. They attended the BearCardinal football game. Mrs. Della Billman of Fort Wayne is visiting Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Skidgell this week. Mr. and Mrs N. G. Skidgell were dinner guests of Harold Skidgell in Ligonier, Sunday. Henry and Kenneth Gustafson of Gary spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gustafson. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brown and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hinderer spent Sunday at Purdue University with the latter’s son Robert., E. E. Thornburg of Marion spent several days of this week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ralph E. Thornburg. Mr, and Mrs. C. E. Nelson of Hammond were the week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Laucke Xanders at their home on Kale Island. Mrs. Fred Hinderer spent several days last week in Elkhart with Mrs. Elva Nicolai.

Mrs. J. V. Applegate and daughters spent Friday in Mishawaka. Dr. and Mrs. John Adrian and sons of Lorrain, Ohio, spent last Wednesday evening with Mrs. B. F. Hoy enroute to Phoenix, Ariz., where they will spend the winter. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Richhart and family spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Mick in Elkhart, the occasion being Mrs. Richhart’s birthday. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Richhart and Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Richhart of Fort Wayne. Friends of Mrs. Catherine Richhart Connolly will be glad to hear that she is now recovering from her illness at her home in Elkhart. Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Kelley of Chicago spent the week-end here.
