Mr. and Mrs. Roy Niles visited their son, Burton, at Manchester college, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ott and daughter, Betty, of Fort Wayne, spent the week-end with Mr. Francis Ott. The United Brethren Ladies’ Aid met Wednesday with Mrs. Fieldon Sharp. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Gustafson, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Barringer and Mr. and Mrs. Gary Robison of Goshen, were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Robison. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Rex spent Saturday in Elkhart. Miss Fern Stroup of Syracuse spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Stroup, north of town. Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Rex spent Sunday in Fort Wayne. Mrs. Eloise LeCount, Miss Laura Roderick and Milo Roderick of Millersburg spent Wediesday evening at Syracuse Lake. Callers at the W. A. Ort and sister, Miss Alta Geiger, of Churubusco, were guests of Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Bailey Friday evening. Rev. and Mrs. O. G. Alwood of Solomon’s Creek were dinner of Rev. and Mrs. J. C. Bailey, Friday evening. Rev. Gerald Giger of Brimfield was the guest of Rev. and Mrs. J. <J. Bailey, Wednesday. Mrs. Henry Grieger is spending this week in Chicago.

Mr. and Mrs. George Xanders and Mr. and Mrs. George L. Hire returned Saturday from a 10-day fishing trip in Canada. Mr. and Mrs. B. R. Laughlin and son, Laddie, were dinner guests of Dr. and Mrs. J. R. Lanighlin on Ogden Island, Monday evening. Mrs. Maude Johnson returned Saturday after spending a few days in Cumberland Gap, Maryland, with relatives. Mrs. Dan Klink has been ill for the past few days.. Mrs. Ed Farley and children of Elkhart visited Mr. and Mrs. Ernest A. Richhart,' Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest A. Richhart and son, Tod, visited Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Connolly in Elkhart, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Alden Snavely from Toledo spent the week-end with Mr. A. E. Snavely. Mr. A. E. Snavely spent part of Sunday in Goshen. Miss Gwendolyn Applegate has been ill with a bad cold for the last few days. Mrs. John Gordy, Jr., and two sons and a daughter are spending this week with relatives in Kendallville and Auburn. Mr. and Mrs. George Bauman and children, Mary Lou and Teddy, of Auburn, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Applegate. Mrs. Dorothy K. Harris left Monday evening for Erie Be., where she will conduct a cooking school this week. Mr. Seigel Rasler of Kendallville called on Miss Gwendolyn Applegate Friday evening. On his way to New York, Mr. Ray Uecker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, called at the Applegate home briefly Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Fenton are spending two weeks on a trip through the East and also in Canada. Mr. Albert Telschow of Argus visited his wife and family over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Vail and Mr. and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Vail visited their sister in Elkhart, Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Long visited their daughter, Mrs. Wilbur Onstott in Warsaw, Sunday. Mr. Glenn Watts, who works in Chicago, spent the week-end here with his family.

Mr. Roy Miller, who has been ill for the past few weeks, is reported as being improved. Roy Ross of south of town has purchased the Geo. Hodgson property on Mill street, through the J. W. Rothenberger Real Estate Agency. Mr. Hobart Garrett, local employee of the B. & C. R. R. was overcome by the heat Thursday. He is recovering slowly. Mrs. J. H. Elliott is spending the week in Chicago. Correction—-It was Clara Holloway and not Mrs. E. E. Holloway who caught the large ‘ bass as reported in last week's paper. Miss Dorothy LaFlare spent Thursday to Saturday of last week in Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Si then of Garrett, Indiana, were the weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. LaFlare. Mr. and Mrs. N. G. Skidgell returned home Monday from a visit in Hammond and Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. C. Bowersox visited in Garrett, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. C. Bowersox spent Monday in South Bend. Mr and Mrs. C. Bowersox will spend this coming week-end in Logansport. |A homecoming and rally day will be sponsored the second Sunday in October by the Methodist Episcopal church.
