0 Salem # By Mrs. Joe Smith On September the 10th, New Salem will have a home coming service. Dr. Homer L. Burke and wife, who are returned missionaries from Africa, will speak both forenoon and afternoon on mission work. In the evening they will show African pictures. Dinner will be served at the church. Mrs. Irene Krider entertained the Ladies’ Aid at her home last Wednesday. ' Herbert Morehouse and D’Maris Fisher of Mexico, Indiana, were united in marriage, August 10th, at the Mexico Church of the Brethren. Guy Morehouse and family attended the wedding. Herbert is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Guy Morehouse. The Weybright reunion was held at the Bethany church. Russell Stout preached in the morning. Mike Kuneff and family of Mishawaka spent last week at the Joe Smith, Emory Guy, ind Arnold LeCount home. Douald Smith and family of Mishawaka, and Mr. Bush of South Bend called Friday evening in the Smith home. Betty, June, and Mary Ann Pinkerton spent a couple Jays last week at the Max Brower home in Syracuse and attended tne big fair. |Guests in the Joe Smith home Sunday were Mike Kuneff and Arnold LeCount and families. Frank Brennaman and wife called in the afternoon. Frank Brennaman and wife called at the Roy Pinkerton and Lester Dewart homes. Clyde Sutton and wife of Muncie, who ran the Redmin Park grocery this summer, have closed the store and will return to Muncie. * ) Raymond Main, who is at a CCC camp at Angola, spent the week-end with his parents, Harrison Main and family. Marlon Main and Harry Smith took Raymond back to camp Sunday afternoon. Dale Mock and wife went to Michigan last week after reaches. Mrs. Mock called at the Joe Smith home last Friday. Howard Mock called on his sister, MiSs Wanita Mock, Saturday. Burdette Method was helping Alva Crowl cat corn. John Stout and wife attend >d the Weybright reunion Suudav at Bethany church. Pat Shea of Chicago has been very ill at the Zeltinger cottake. Mrs. Zeltinger accompanied him to Chicago Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Betes and sOn, Mr. and Mrs. William Fipp, spent the week-end at tiieir cottage and attended the Fall Festival. 'Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bjella are the proud parents of twin boys born Saturday morning at the McDonald hospital. The little sons are answering to the names of Dennis and Dallis. Mrs. Bjella is reported doing nicely. Miss Bessie Adams spent Sunday in Nappanee with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Clay Deva tut and sons Robert and Duane, and Mrs. Elmer Grisamore of Epping, N. Dakota, came Tuesday for a visit Mrs. Grisamore to remain for the winter. Walter Middleton spent a few days in Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Dewey. LeCount attended the funeraj of Mrs. LeCount’s grandmother at Joliet, Illinois. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Ray and daughter, Nancy, were Sunday guests of Mr. Ray's brothers, James and Forest Ray.

Mrs. Dale Ray is on our sick list since Monday. 9 Zion Chapel • by Adah Clayton Rev. Henry Maison, Zion chapel pastor, has been transferred to South Woodridge, Michigan, by the decision of the stationary board at the annual conference at the Rothfuss assembly park, Hillsdale, Michigan. They spent Sunday there. The Zion Chapel W. M. A., local held their regular meeting last Thursday. Mr. Dallas Grindel and family, Chicago, spent the holiday weekend with his mother, Mrs. Harry Chiddlster. Mr. Roy Clayton and son, Roy Jr., and two friends of Detroit, Mich., were Sunday guests of Dave Clayton’s. Mr. Clayton has purchased a farm at Lenox, and moved his family there but he will continue working for the Murray Body Company in Detroit. Mrs. Mary Gilchrist, Indianapolis and Willow Grove, spent Saturday night with Mrs. Marie LeCount. - Rev. Hearsh, wife and children, Richard and Phyllis, were entertained this week-end in the Geo. Stienbarger home. He preached his first sermon at Indian Village Sunday morning and at Zion Chapel in the evening.

Until recently Marie Dionne has been the “runt” of the famous quintuplets, but a few days ago she weighed 49 pounds, a helf pound more than hes sister, Yvonne, who is now the smallest of the five. Brice Fulgrum, expe-t tuba player in a band at Fredonia, Kan., was put out of commission when a wasp settled in his mouth piece and stung his lip when he started to play. Two Philadelphia policemen in a patrol car speeded in reverse for three blocks to catch a man fleeing from a gambling place. Diving for a set of false teeth lost by a companion while swimming, a boy near New Hope, Pa., brought up a set, but not the right one. A woman claimed the set recovered. A 15-ton American bombing plane built for the British government was flown from San Diego, Calif., to England, instead of being shipped by steamer. Thieves gave a hambone to Mrs. Elsie Engels’ watch dog at Quincy, Mass., and ransacked her home while the dog gnawed contentedly. . Rev. and Mrs. Ralph G. Rarick motored to Warsaw on Tuesday, principally to call on Ambrose Finley, of Syracuse, whe had an operation last week and is a patient, in the McDonald hospital.
