GIRL SCOUTS MEET The members of the local ehap- - ter of the Girl Scouts of America held their regular meeting last Monday afternoon at 2:30 at "the M. B. church yard. The time was ■pent in practicing for the coming Infesture. Twenty-three members were present at this meeting which was closed with the singing of tape. METHODIST AID MEETS ? . Committee No. 4 of the Method-* Ist Aid o f the M. E. Church met at the home of Warren F. Colwell Sunday for a bacon and egg breakfast. The guests were Mr. and Mrs. D. Weaver and their friend. Miss Fannie Rae from Swayzee, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Self; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Sanger of Elkhart, who came a 9 the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Self; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Mrs. Muriel Sharp, general manage?, with the assistance of others had matters well arranged. The destination of the party was supposed to be secret, but as “trouble will out,” sb some found out, or guessed where they were going After a brief period of reconnoitering, a hungry group partook of a fost delicioug and bountiful potluck dinner. The program of the occasion was Interesting. Some business matters were attended to and social intercourse made up the afternoon “while it rained." READ THE JOURNAL

A pageant entitled “Tbs Highway of Joy" will be presented by the children, young people and several adults. Morning worship, 16:45. Intermediate League, 7:00. Lakeside vespers, 5:00. Thursday evening, mid-week and Bible study. Tuesday evening, the Fellowship Class will meet in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Cook for their June meeting. Intermediate League at 6:30. The Junior Aid was entertained at the home of Mrs. Dale Grimes on Wednesday afternoon. Morning worship, 10:45. Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P. M., the township Sunday school convention will be in session at the Evangelical church. At 5:00 P. M., Sunday, the Union Vesper Service will be held on the lawn of the Lakeside U. B. church. The octette of North Central College will be present and sing. This same organization has come to our town for the past two year s and given a splendid con-* cert. North Central College is located at Naperville, 111., and is a part of the Evangelical church. Thursday evening, the Congregational Birthday Party for June will be held in the church parlors. A Potluck supper, devotions, and recreations will be enjoyea. Friday afternoon, there will be an anniversary tea at the home of Rev. and Mrs,. J. S. Pritchard. This event Is sponsored by com. II of the Junior Aid, but all members and friends are invited. Wednesday, July 5, the W. M. S. of the church, will meet with Mrs. Wilma Hire, and hold their regular meeting. There v-ili be much music as usual, and other items of interest and worth to the whole family. Preaching again by the pastor. Ladies’ Aid Society meets at the church each Thursday. Morning worship at 11:00. As part of our morning worship we shall bring to our remembrance our Lordfs death by partaking of the Lord’s Supper. DRIVE CAREFULLY PAST WORKMEN ON HIGHWAYS An appeal to motorists to drive carefully at points where workmen are engaged in construction and improvement work along the state highway system, was made today by T. A. Dicus, chairman of the State Highway Commission. Wherever possible, work is being done on and along the state highways without closing the road to traffic and establishing a detour but unless motorists are willing to slow dbwn and drive carefully when passing’ workmen this policy will be abandoned. —1- w I HUMOR REPORTED FALSE It ha 3 been erroneously reported in this community that Mr. L.
