SYRACUSE - WAWASEE JOURNAL

Beginning this week, the Syra-cuse-Wawasee Journal is going to carry in its columns three new feature strips. One will be a column of particular interest to the ladies, since it is to be a series of recipes; another is the use of two comic strips which we hope will be of interest to everybody, young and old, and which are not found in the daily papers; and the third is a column of generae household hints which will start next week. j These new features are secured at no little expense, but we feel that our readers will more than appreciate the coming of these new additions to our newspaper. This is only one of the many improvements we are planning for the Journal, the other s will follow as we go along, and feel thpt we are making enough progress to merit them. Already we have installed some new equipment in the shop, which as we become more thoroughly organized, will speed up the publication of each issue and wilr aid greatly in giving our many readers a better, more newsy newspaper. Among the most important of these are the saw for cutting the type slugs and the casting box -which is used to cast mat s of different kinds. We invite our readers to visit our shop at any time and see the improvements we are making. A ‘ western editor who prides « himself on his enterprise in getting local news first published erroneously that a citizen of the town had died. Next day he printed the following item: ‘’Yesterday we were the first newspaper to publish the death of Frank Brown. Today we are the first to deny the report. The Morning Star is always in the lead.”

DESTRUCTIVE FISH Early Tuesday morning three members of the local conservation club speared several destructive fish from Boner lake getting carp, gar fish and dog fish in an effort to clear the lake and give the game fish a better chance to live in the lake. Maurice Kroh, Russel and Bob Hinderer were the boys who were in the party, but it seems that Maurice n o t only was in the party but after some fancy maneuvering found himself in the lake. When asked how he happened to be there he stated that he just wanted to take a swim but didn't have time to remove his clothes. In the wee hours of Wednes- . day morning, Maurice, along with Jim Galloway and Herman Jensen, also members of the local conservation club, embarked on Syracuse lake to spear another catch of destructive fish, getting four dog fish and eight gar for a total of nearly 25 pounds. This work is all done for the good of the game fish and the clubs are really to be commended. ROUND TABLEBS MEET IN N.
