(So did the yell leader.) '■ The score keeper for Cromwell couldn’t stand the strain in the closing secohds of the game, so he hopped up and gave a piece of acvice to the players. After this game, Syracuse should carry a doctor on the squad. One of the doctors got put up. (Doe Miller.) Syracuse plays her first county game against Leesburg at Syracuse, Nov. 11. Slabaugh? A man was charged with shooting a number of pigeons, the property of a farmer. Counsel for the defense tried to frighten the farmer. “Now,” he remarked, “are you prepared to swear that shot your pigeons?” “I didn’t say he did shoot ’em,” was the reply, “I said I suspected him of doing it.” “Ah! Now we’re coming to it. What made you suspect this man? “Well, first I caught him on my land with a gun, second, I heard a gun go off and saw some pigeons fall. Third, I found four of my pigeons in his pocket, and I don’t think the birds flew there and committed suicide.” Mr. Slabaugh: “Betty, why are you so late?” '• Betty HU: “Oh! I saw a sign.*' Mr. Slabaugh: “What has a sign
to do with your coming late?" BVetty: “It said, 'Slow down, school ahead.’ ” Howard Hummel: “What’s that noise?” Pat McCarty: “A fellow in a car turned a corner!” Howard: “Well what about it?” Pat: “There wasn’t any corner.” All you girls that want to change the color of your hair, can get information from Roy Miller. Boy, how did you get it that enchanting pink shade, Monday morning? Mr. Byers: “Science says that mosquitoes weep. Is that true? Wendy Beck: “It’s possible, I’Ve seen a moth ball.” Poppa: “Did you have the car last night?” ’ Harry Coy: “Why yes, I took some boys out for a ride. Poppa: “Well, tell th© boys I found one of their little lace handkerchiefs in the car.”
