LOCAL LINES Mrs. Wm. Connolly spent Monday In Chicago. Mr. and Mrs. Wilmot Jones, of the Jones Dairy company, are on a motor trip, to Colorado. Mr. Eldred Mabie has sold his property cn Mill street to Mr. and Mrs. G. R. Hodgson. ‘ Mrs. Edith Allen, of Saint Joseph, Michigan, spent a few days this week in the home of Mrs. Wilma Hire. Mr. and Mrs. Hiram Rafensperger and Mr. and Mrs. William Raffensperger, of Indianapolis spent a few days with Mr. Chas. M. Brian. Mr. William Moats is slowly recovering at the home of his daughter Mrs. Orley Brown, from a heart attack which he suffered last week. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Disher were guests on Saturday evening at the wedding of Mr. Geo. Peffley, of Toledo and Miss Winifred Trunck, at the First Evangelical church in Fort Wayne, Ind. Mrs. Lloyd Disher entertained 6 little girls Tuesday afternoon in honor of her daughter Marcia’s fourth birthday. Lovely refreshments were served. Each guest received a favor. Mrs. John Byland, an operator at the local telephone office, is enjoying a week’s vacation and moving from the Shaffer property on road No. 13 to the Rippey property on South Main street.

Holstein —Bonnie Workman, first calf; Ray Steffler, third calf; Martha Hibschman, fourth calf. Senior Yearling Heifers- —Martha Hibschman, first; Oliver Hibschman, third. Martha Hibschman received the title of having the grand champion heifer.

NEWS ITEMS Enrollment Mounts The total enrollment has reached 154 for the Senior high school. This is a high mark in the history of the school. Never before has it been so large. Grade Cards Due Grade cards were given out Wednesday. New Stove for Lab. A new electric stove has been installed in the Home Ec. laboratory for the convenience of the students. The girls are pretty exited about it, especially Miss Brucaw. There seems to be one leg missing, but Miss Burcaw says it isn’t a freak, that the other leg will be here soon. County Supt. Visits Schools Mr. Lewallan, county superintendent of schools, visited the Syracuse schools Wednesday. , Praise for Prodigal Son “De prodigal son deserves some praise,” said Uncle Eben, “foh cornin’ home by hisself and not tryin’ to work off his gold brick friends on de family.”
