AGUE1 AGUEII AGUE!!! IV cure no pay. CLEMENS & BAKER'S celebrated Block Tonic Pillt, A certain cure for FEVER &, AGUE. Warranted to cure or the Money refunded. 14 UtirJ unparallelled success which has attended the use of these Pills wherever they have been introduced, enables us with confidence to offer them to the public as as an infallible remedy for FEVER AND AGUE. And as we have never jet heard of their failing to cure in a single case, we have such confidence
m their efficacy, that we hereby authorize our agents to refund the prico of them in every instance of failure, provided satisfactory evidence is given that the
directions lor their use has been complied with. These pills contain no mineral or poisonous ingre dient, nor any thing in the least injurious to the hu'
man system, but are a vegetable preparation, and may
be given to intanis or persons ot the most delicate con
stitution, with petfect safety, and are of so bracing and strengthening a nature, that they restore a lost
appetite, strengthen the digestive organs, and invigo
rate the whole system; and are consequently one of
the best remedies known for dyspepsia, liver complaint,
jaundice, and general debility
No person, living in a section of country where in
termittent levers prevail, should ever be without
box of the TONIC PILLS, and whenever the premon-
ltary symptoms appear, by taking one pill every morning or oftener, the disease will in most cases be
arrested.
To travelers also, they cannot be too highly recom
mended, as they are neatly put up, and can be carried
in the pocket without inconvenince, having in thi
respect the advantage over all the liquid Tonics, which
are not only bulky and liable to breakage, but being generally watery solutions, will not stand the cold.
The Tonic Pills contain all the virtues of the best of
them. Our advice to every body is, Go and buy a box of Cle-
men and Baker'1 Black Tonic Pills, which may be had
of the following agents. J. R. Wilcox, Druggist; Evansville, Indiana W. & C. Bell, do. do. do. R. Wallace & Co., Merchants, Carlisle, do. J. B. Colwell kCo., Druggists, Vincennes, do. Patrick &. ryHE course of instruction in this Department, commences on the first of November, and continues 4 months, exclusive of
a short recess at Christmas. There is an exercise each day: first
in the Principles of Law consisting of recitations, lectures, and
examinations; and secondly, in the Practice of Law embracing the discussion of the various forms of legal instruments and judi cial proceedings, together with exercises in the Moot Court The whole course is arranged and conducted in a mode suited to beginners, and with a view to include, as far as possible, a general outline of the law in a single session. The terms are $50 for the session, payable in advance; and no deduction for part of the time. This has no reference to the office tuition, for which students can make their own arrangements. The requisites for the degree of Bachelor of Laws, are, that the candidate shell attend at least one session, and shall pass an examination to be made by
a committee of legal gentlemen designated bv the Board of Trus
tees, and instructed to consider the standard of qualification for a
degreee the same as for admission to the bar. An extra charge
ot $a is made lor a Diploma. Students can have access to a good
Library, and the Courts are almost constantly in session in the City. The price of board ranges from 83 to $6 per week. It is verv desirable that all who propose to enter the Law Class
should be present at the beginning of the course. sept 1 7w T, WALKER, Profesior of Law.

inuiiuv's Vegetable Xilfe Medicines. rilllESE Medicines are indebted for their name to JL their manifest and sensible action in purifying the spring.j and channels of life, and enduing them with renewed tone and vigor, and to the undoubted fact that in a very early period in their history they had rescued sufferers from the very veree of an untimely
grave, after all the deceptive nostrums of tho day,
prescrioed hy physicians, had utterly failed, in which
cases they also permanently secured that uniform en
joyment of health, without which life itself is but a partial blessing. So great indeed had their efficacy
lnvariaDiy proved, that it was scarcely less than mi
racnlotts to those who " were unacquHinted with the
Deautuuuy philosophical principle upon which ihey are compounded, and upon which they consequently
act.
THE HICENIX BITTERS are so called, because they possess the power of restoring the expiring era-
oers or neann, to a glowing vigor throughout the con
stitution, as the Phuniix is said to be restored to lile
from the ashes of its own dissolution. The Phcenix Bitters are entirely vegetable, composed of roots found
oniy in certain parts ol the western country, which
will infallibly cure FEVERS AND AGUES of all
kinds; will never fail to eradicate entirely all the ef
fects of Mercury infinitely sooner than the most pow-
enui preparations ot barsapanlla, anil will immedi
ately cure the determination of BLOOD TO THE HEAD; never fail in the sickness incident to young
lemaies; and will be found a certain remedy in all cases of nervous debility and weakness of the most
impaired constitutions. As a remedy tor Uhronic and Inflamatory Rheumatism, the efficacy of the Phoenix
Diners win De demonatrated by the use ot a single bottle.
The proprietor rejoices in the opportunity afforded
by the universal diffusion oPthe press, for placing the Vegetable Life Medicines within the knowledge and reach of every individual in the community. Unlike
the host of pernicious quackeries, which boast of vegetable ingredients, the Life Pills are purely and solely
vegetable, and contain neither Mercury, Antimony,
Arsenic, nor any other mineral, in any form whatever. They are entirely composed of extracts from rare and powerful plants, the virtues of which, thoueh
I long known to several Indian tribes, and recently to
some eminent pharmaceutical chemists are altogether unknown to the ignorant pretenders to medical science; and were never before administered in so happily efficacious a combination. The first operation is to loosen from the coats of the stomach and bowels, the various impurities and erudities constantly settling around them; and to remove the hardened foeces which collect in the convolutions of the small intestines. Other medicines only partially cleanse these, and leave such collected masses behind as to produce habitual costiveness, with all its train of evils, or sudden diarrhoea, with its imminent dangers. This fact is well known to all regular anatomists, who examine the human bowels after death; and hence the prejudice of these well inform
ed men against the quack medicines of the age. The second effect of the VEGETABLE LIFE PILLS is to cleanse the kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lunes, the healthful action oi
which entirely depends upon the regularity of tho urinary organs. The blood, which takes its red color from the agency of the liver and the lungs before it.pascsinto the heart, being thus purified by them and nourished by food coming from a clean stomach, courses freely through the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner of healih'in the blooming cheek. The followingare among the distressing varieties of human diseases, to which the Vegetable Life Pills are well known to be infallible: DYSPEPSIA, by thoroughly cleansing the first and
second stomachs, and creating a flow of pure healthy
one, instead ot the stale and acrid kind :tlalulencv,
Palpitation of the Heart, Loss of Appetite, Heart-burn
ana Headache, tiestlessness, ill-temper. Anxiety, Lan
guar ana Melancholy, which are the general symptom
ot Uyspepsia, will vanish, as a natural consequence
01 its euro, vosiiveness, by cleansing the whole lengi
of the intestines with a solvent process, and withou
violence: all violent purges leave the bowels costive
within two days. Uiarrhma and Lholera, by removtri .l - i. 1 rt 1 t 1 , .1 1

tne process ot pcrspirarion in some cases, and th
thorough solution of all intestinal obstructions
others. The Life Medicines have been known to cure
Rlieumatism permanently in three weeks, and Gout i
halt that time, by temoving local inflamation from th
muscles and ligaments of the joints. Drovsies of a
kinds, by freeing and strengthening the kidneys an
bladder; they operate most delightfully on these lm
portant organs, and hence have ever been found a cer
tain remedy for the worst cases of Gravel. Also
Worms, by dislodging from the turnings of the bowel
the slimy matter to which these creatures adhere
Asthma aud Consumption, by relieving the air vessels o
the lungs Irom the mucus, which even slight colds will
occasion, which it not removed becomes hardened
and produces those dreadful diseases. Scurvev. Ulcers
and Inveterate Sores, by the perfect purity which these
Jbiie nils give to the blood, and all the humors: Scor
butic Eruptions and Bad Complexions, and by thei
alternative effect upon the fluids that feed the skin, th
morbid state of which occasions all Eruptive com
plaints, Sallow, Cloudy, and other disagreeable Complex
ions, tne use ot tnese rills tor a verv short time.
will effect an entire cure of Salt Rheum Erysipelas, and
astriKing improvement in the Clearness of the Skin.
Common Colds and Influenza, will always be cured bv
one dose, or by two, even in the worst cases. Piles,
ana remeoy lor mis most msiressi ng and obstinate
malady, the Vegetable Life Pills, deserve a distinct
and emphatic recommendation. It is well known to
hundreds in this City, that the originator of these in ..-1 1. 1 - r 1 1 1 1 r . . , , .

plaint for upwards of thirty-Jive years, and that he tried in vain every remedy prescribed within the whole compass of the Materia Mediea. He however, at length tried the medicine which he now offers to the
puonc, ana ne was cured in a very short time
after his recovery had been pronounced not onlvim
probable, but absolutely impossible, by any human means. All that Mr. Moffat requires of his patients is to be
particular in taking the Lite Medicines strictly accord
ing to the directions. It is not by a newspaper notice,
or oy anyming mat ne nimsen may say in their lavor, that he hopes to gain credit. It is alone by tbe results
ot a lair trial.
