CLEMENS & BAKER'S celebrated Block Tonic Pills, A certain cure for FEVER & AGUE. Warranted to cure or the Money refunded. OTRHh, unparalleled success wlucti lia attended the 41 use of these Pills wherever they have been introduced, enables us with confidence to offer them to the public as as in infallible remedy for FEVER AND AGUE. And as we have never j et heard of their fail ing to cure in a single case, we have such confidence in their efficacy, that we hereby authorize our agents to refund the price of them in every instance ol failure, provided satisfactory evidence is given that the directions for their use has been complied with. These pills contain no mineral or poisonous ingredient, nor any thing in the least injurious to the human system, but are a vegetable preparation, and may be given to infants or persons of the most delicate constitution, with peifect safety, and are of so bracing and strengthening a nature, that they restore a lost appetite, strengthen the digestive organs, and invigorate the whole system; and are consequently one of the best remedies known for dyspepsia, liver complaint, jaundice, and general debility. No person, living in a section of country where intermittent fevers prevail, should ever be without a box of the TONIC PILLS, and whenever the premonitary symptoms appear, by taking one pill 'every morning or oftener, the disease will in most cases be arrested. To travelers also, they cannot be too highly recommended, as they are neatly put up, and can be carried in the pocket without inconvenince, having in this respect the advantage over all the liquid Tonics, which are not only bulky and liable to breakage, but being generally watery solutions, will not stand the cold. Tbe Tonic Pills contain all the virtues of the best of them . . Our advice to every body is, Go and buy a box of Clemen and Baker's Black Tonic Pills, which may be had of the following agents. J. R. Mofl'at's Vegetable Life Medicines.
rriHESE Medicines are indebted tor tlieir name to
JL their manifest and sensible action in purifying the
springs and channels ol life, and enduing them with
renewed tone and vitror, and to the undoubted lact
that in a very early period in their history they had rescued sufferers from the very verge of an untimely
grave, after all the deceptive nostrums of the day,
prescribed by physicians, had utterly failed, in which
cases they ulso permanently secured that untlorm en
joyment of health, without which life itself is but a
partial blessing. So great indeed had their eflicacy invariably proved, that it was scarcely less than mi
raculous to those who were unacquainted with the beautiful lyphilosophicarTrinci pits upon - which -they
are compounded, and upon which they consequently act. THE PIICENIX BITTERS are so called, because they possess the power of restoring the expiring embers of health, to a glowing vigor throughout the constitution, us the Phamix is said to be resiorcd to lile from the ashes of its own dissolution. The Phoenix Bitters are entirely vegetable, composed of roots found only in certain pnrts of the western country, which will infallibly cure FEVERS AND AGUES of ull kinds; will never fail to eradicate entirely all the 'effects of Mercury infinitely sooner than the most powerlul preparations of Sarsaparilla, and will immediately cure the determination of BLOOD TO THE HEAD; never fail in the sickness incident to young females; und will bo found a certain remedy in all cases of nervous debility and weukness of the most impaired constitutions. As a remedy for Chronic and Jnllamntory Rheumatism, the eflicacy of ihe Phoenix Bitters will be demonatrated by the use of a single bottle. ,. The proprietor rejoices in the opportunity afforded
by the universal diffusion of the press, for placing the
r egeiaote -Litjc JUtdiuncs within the knowledge and
reach of every individual in the community. Unlike the host of pernicious quackeries, which boast of vegetable ingredients, the Life Pills are purely and solely vegetable, and contain neither Mercury, Antimony, Arsenic, nor any other mineral, in any form whatever.
Ihey are entnely composed of extracts from rare
and powerful plants, the virtues of which, though long known to several Indian tribes, and recently to some eminent pharmaceutical chemists are altogether unknown to the ignorant pretenders lo medical science; and were never before administered in so hap
pily efficacious a combination.
1 he first operation is to loosen from the coats of the
stomach and bowels, the various impurities and erudities constantly settling around them ; and to remove the hardened faeces which collect in the convolutions of the small intestines. Other medicines only parti
ally cleanse these, and leave such collected masses
behind as to produce habitual costiveness, with all
its train of evils, or sudden diarrhosa, with its imminent dangers. This fact is well known to all regular
anatomists, who examine the human bowels after
death; and hence the prejudice of these well inform
ed men against the quack medicines of the age. The second effect of the VEGETABLE LIFE PILLS is to cleanse the kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lungs, the healthful action oi which entirely depends upon the regularity of the uri
nary organs. I lie blood, which takes its red color from the agency of the liver and the lungs before it pasiesinto the heart, being thus purified by them and nourished by food coming from a clean stomach, courses freely through the veins, renews every part of the system, and triumphantly mounts the banner of health in the blooming cheek. The following are among the distressing varieties of human diseases, to which the Vegetable Life Pills are well known to be infallible: DYSPEPSIA, by thoroughly cleansing the first and second stomachs, and creating a flow of pure healthy bile, instead of the stale and acrid kind : Flatulency, Palpitation of the Heart, Loss of Appetite, Heart-burn and Headache, Restlessness, III temper, Anxiety, Languor and Melancholy, which are the general symptoms of Dyspepsia, Will vanish, as a natural consequence of its cure. Costiveness, by cleansing the whole length of the intestines with a solvent process, and without violence: all violent purares leave the bowels costive
within two days. Diarrhcea and Cholera, by removing
the 6Harp nend nuids by which these complaints are
occasioned, and by promoting the lubricative seere
tions of the mucous membrane. Fevers of all kinds,
by restonrigthe blood to a regular circulation through the process of perspiration in some cases, and the
thorough solution of all intestinal obstructions in
others. The Life Medicines have been known to cure
Rheumatism permanently in three weeks, and Gout in half that time, by temoving local inflama'ion from the
muscles and ligaments of the joints. Dropsies of all
kinds, by treeing and strengthening the kidneys and
bladder; they operate most delightfully on these im
portant organs, and hence have ever been found a cer
tain remedy for the worst cases of Grovel. Also Worms, by dislodging from the turnings of the bowels
the slimv matter to which these creatures adhere;
Asthma aud Consumption, by relieving the air vessels of
the lungs Irom the mucus, which even slight colds will occasion, which if not removed becomes hardened,
and produces those dreadful diseases. Scurvey, Ulcers,
and Inveterate oores, by the perlect purity which these Life Pills give to the blood, and all the humors; Scorbutic Eruptions and Bad Complexions, and by their alternative effect upon the fluids that feed the skin, the morbid state of which occasions all Eruptive com
plaints, Sallow, Cloudy, and Other disagreeable Complex
ions. I he use ol these fills tor a very short time, will effect an entire cure of Salt Rlicum Erysipelas, and a striking improvement in the Clearness of the Skin. Common Colds and Influenza, will always be cured by one dose, or by two, even in the worst cases. Piles, as a remedy for this most distressing and obstinate malady, the Vegetable Life Pills, deserve a distinct and emphatic recommendation. It is well known to hundreds in this city, that the originator of these invaluable Pills was himself afflicted with this com
plaint for upwards of thirty-five years, and that he tried
in vain every remedy prescribed within the whole compass of the Materia Medica. He however, at length tried the medicine which he now offers to the public, xnd he was cured in a very short time, after his recovery had been pronounced not only improbable, but absolutely impossible, by any human means. All that Mr. Moffat requires of his patients is to be particular in taking the Life Medicines strictly according to the directions. It is not by a newspaper notice, or by anything that he himself may say in their favor, that he hopes to gain credit. It is alone by the results
ol a lair trial.
These Valuable Medicines are for sale at the Drug
Store ol UAJNlfcL KING Indianapolis, July 22, 1841. 21mar4 2t
