Counterfeiters.-Wc have rcfruincil, thus fur, from saying any thing in regard to sovnral arrests that were miido in this county, during last month, with the desire that no obstacle should be thrown in the way of justice.- We did not wish to prejudice the rights of the parties, by publishing the ev,.lcnco until it should be regularly detailed before a jury ot the country. In four instances we had acted as counsel for the state, and in one, as counsel for Hie deferent, and we feared improper motives might te attached to orr conduct, if we attempted to give a history ..ft the several transactions.-But the aspect when ihc mat, ter has assumed, we think, renders itnwessary tor us to say enough to put the public on the a,f-rt. , . Rex was recognized, and 1ms given "I""- bail " His hands, it is supposed, are not entirely' clean of breeches of the law, and every community should guard its interests, by wholly discountenancing him; and, if he be found this side of the Ozark mountains, he should bo returned, to stand his trial. He remained in jail near a month before he found the re-, nuisite "bail." Timothy R. Woodden, had resided about Moscow, with Harney, nearly a year, nnd had finally run away with one of his daughters. He had been 'looked upon with a suspicious eye, by the community. After Harney ran away, Woodden returnee to Moscow, one night, and was arrested the next day, for passing a counterfeit twenty dollar bill, previous to his elopement with Harney's daughter. lie was re-coo-nked, and gave bail at the same time, and in the same' manner that did Rex. Tincher's conduct has been such as to justify the conclusion, in the mind of the great. majority of our citizens, of his entire innocence; indeed, every circumstance is in his favor; but we leave the whole matter for the decision of the proper tribunal : Rushtilte Whig.

ffc-j-The Rev. John N. Maffifonce published his life, written by himself. His celebrity at the present time would make sale for a large edition. We shall never forget the opening paragraph. It reads thus: "From the romantic retreats of far-famed Erin, born on the fickle winds of an adverse foriunc, a lonely etranger brings his mite of sorrow, and lays the dewstarred treasure at Columbia's feet!" The whole work was in nearly the same elevated strain, and terribly interesting. If we remember rightly, the Rev. Professor of Belles Lettres was originally a romantic journeyman tailor. Atlas. . . IMPORTANT TESTIMONY. Consumption and Bleeding of the Lungs cured. Mr. William Sheprlard, residing in lieaver county, Pa. near the state line, relates as follows: "In tho month of May last my wife was taken with Bleeding from the Lungs, coughing, night sweats, hectic fever, &c. She had taken a violent cold; having previously given symptoms of the approach of consumption, I felt much alarmed and made immediate application to a physician. Under his treatment she became worse, instead of better, until the first of June, w hen I heard from an intelligent man of Dr. Smayns's Syrup of mid Cherry, and from his earnestness In recommend, ing it I was induced to try one bottle. The effect exceeded my utmost .expectations she felt immediate 'relief. 1 then mounted my horse and rode to the office, Pittsburgh, where it is kept for sale, and procured six bottles more, which I am happy to say has ,r-i..,i ., .,.riw.t mi-p l'lpiisp.
