Consumption and its fatal consequences. It is made known to us from the "hills of mortality," that two thirds of the human family die annually from that fatal de stroyer "Consumption!" Would patients pay more regard to their health, and procure proper remedies at the first attack, many valuable lives would be saved to the enjoyment of their dear est friends and relatives. It is a well known fact that "Doctor Swayne's Compound Syrcp of Wild Chkrhy" will arrest the dangerous disease. This Medicine has proved its efficacy in "thousands of cases." The very many certificates received, and the recommendations from country agents, who sell this Medicine throughout the United States, is truly astonishing they speak from ocular proof, witnessing the cures in their own vicinity This certainly is sufficient evidence to convince the most skeptical of the wonderful efficacy of this invaluable medicine. Will patients any longer be duped by inexperienced compounds, recommended by ignorant pretenders as "cure alls," which they well known is both ruinous to the health and constitution? PRINCIPAL DEPOT for the above medicine is at No 19, North EIGHTH St., Philadelphia. It may be obtained of agents generally throughout the United States. Price $1 per bottle. N. B. Any person wishing to see certificates of cures and recommendations, can see them at any time by calling at the Principal Depot. Forsaleby

Moffat'i Vegetable Life Medicines. THESE Medicines are indebted for their name to their manifest and sensible action in purifying the springs and channels of life, and enduing them with renewed tone and vigor, and to the undoubted fact that in a very early period in their history they had rescued sufferers from the very verge of an untimely grave, after all the deceptive nostrums of the day, prescribed by physicians, had utterly failed, in which cases they also permanently secured that uniform enjoyment of health, without which life itself is but a partial blessing. So great indeed had their efficacy invariably proved, that it was scarcely less than miraculous to those-who-were unacquainted - with the beautifully philosophical principle upon which they are compounded, and upon which they consequently act. THE PIKENIX BITTERS are so called, because they possess the power of restoring the expiring embers of health, to a glowing vigor throughout the constitution, as the Phoenix is said to be restored to lile from the ashes of its own dissolution. The Phrenix Bitters are entirely vegetable, composed of roots found only in certain parts of the western country, which will infallibly cure FEVERS AND AGUES of all kinds; will never fail to eradicate entirely all the eflects of Mercury infinitely sooner than the most pow
erful preparations of Sarsaparilla, and will immedi
ately cure the determination of BLOOD TO THE
HEAD; never fail in the sickness incident to young
females; and will be found a certain remedy in all cases of nervous debility and weakness of the most impaired constitutions. As a remedy for Chronic and Inflamatory Rheumatism, the efficacy of ihe Phoenix Bitters will be demonatrated by the use of a single
bottle. " The proprietor rejoices in the opportunity afforded
by the universal diffusion of the press, for placing the
vegetable L,iJ& Juedicmes withm the knowledge ana reach of every individual in the community. Unlike
the host of pernicious quackeries, which boast of veg-
etablo ingredients, the Life Pills are purely and solely
vegetable, and contain neither Mercury, Antimony,
Arsenic, nor any other mineral, in any lorm whatever,
They are entirely composed of extracts from rare and powerful plants, the virtues of which, though Ions known to several Indian tribes, and recently to
some eminent pharmaceutical chemists are altogether
unknown to the ignorant pretenders to medical sci ence; and were never before administered in so hap oily efficacious a combination.
The first operation is to loosen from the coats of the
stomach and bowels, the various impurities and eru
dities constantly settling around them ; and to remove the hardened faaces which collect in the convolutions
of the small intestines. Other medicines only parti
ally cleanse these, and leave such collected masses
behind as to produce habitual costiveness, with all its train of evils, or sudden diarrhoea, with its immi
nent dangers. This fact is well known to all regular anatomists, who examine the human bowels after
death; and hence the prejudice of these well informed men against the quack medicines of the age. The
second effect of the VEGETABLE LIFE PILLS
is to cleanse the kidneys and the bladder, and by this means, the liver and the lungs, the healthful action oi
which entirely depends upon the regularity of the tin
nary organs. The blood, which takes its red color from
theagency of the liverand the lungs before it pa?esinto
the heart, being thus punned by them and nourished by
food coming from a clean stomach, courses freely through the veins, renews every part of the system,
and triumphantly mounts the banner of health in the
blooming cheek.
The following are among the distressing varieties of
human diseases, to which the Vegetable Lite rills are
well known to be infallible:
DYSPEPSIA, by thoroughly cleansing the first and
second stomachs, and creating a.flow of pure healthy
bile, instead of the stale and acrid kind : tlalulency,
Palpitation of the Heart, Loss of Appetite, Heart burn
and Headache, Hesllessness, Ml-temper, Jlnxiely, .Lan
guor and Melancholy, which are the general symptoms
ol Dyspepsia, will vanish, as a natural consequence
of its cure. Uostivtness, by cleansing the whole lengtn of the intestines with a solvent process, and without violence: all violent purges leave the bowels costive within two days. Diarrhoea and Cholera, by removing
the sharp acrid fluids by which these complaints are
occasioned, and by promoting the lubricative secre
tions of the mucous membrane, tevers of all kinds, by restoring the blood to a regular circulation through the process of perspiration in some cases, and the thorough solution of all intestinal obstructions in others. The Life Medicines have been known to cure Rheumatism permanently in three weeks, and Goufin half that time, by temoving local lnflamaticii from the
muscles and ligaments of the joints. Dropsies of all
kinds, by freeing and strengthening the kidneys and bladder; they operate most delightfully on these important organB, and hence have ever been found a certain remedy for the worst cases of Gravel. Also Worms, by dislodging from the turnings of the bowels the slimy matter to which these creatures adhere;
Asthma aud Consumption, by relieving the air vessels of
the lungs from the mucus, which even slight colds will occasion, which if not removed becomes hardened, and produces those dreadful diseases. Scurvey, Ulcers, and Inveterate Sores, by the perfect purity which these Life Pills give to the blood, and all the humors; Scorbutic Eruptions and Bad Complexions, anil by their alternative effect upon the fluids that feed the skin, the morbid state of which occasions all Eruptive com
plaints, Sallow, Cloudy, and other disagreeable Complex
ions. I he use ot tnese rins tor a very short time, will effect an entire cure of Salt Rheum Erysipelas, and a striking improvement in the Clearness of the Skin. Common Colds and Influenza, will always be cured by one dose, or by two, even in the worst cases. Piles, as a remedy for this most distressing and obstinate malady, the Vegetable Life Pills, deserve a distinct and emphatic recommendation. It is well known to hundreds in this city, that the originator of these invaluable Pills was himself afflicted with this complaint for upwards of thirty-fire years, and that he tried
in vain every remedy prescribed within the whole compass of the Materia Medica. He however, at length tried the medicine which he now nffers to the public, end he was cured in a very short time,
after his recovery had been pronounced not only im
probable, but absolutely impossible, by any human
means.
All that Mr. Moffat requires of his patients is to be
particular in taking the Life Medicines strictly according to the directions. It is not by a newspaper notice,
or by anything that he himself may say in their favor, that he hopes to gain credit. It is alone by the results of a fair trial.
These Valuable Medicines are for sale at the Drug
Store of DANIEL KING.

THE COUNTERFEITER'S DEATHBLOW. THE public will please observe that no Brandreth's Pills are genuine unless the box has three labels upon it, each containing a faesimilie signature of my hand writing thus B. Brandreth. These labels are engraved on steel, beautifully designed, and done at on expense of several thousand dollars.
THE BBANDKE1II PILLS. npHE remarkable cures which hove been effected by Brandreth's Bills have astonished the whole medical faculty, many of whom have conceded that they are the greatest blessing that ever was given to the world. Th e reason these celebrated Pills have such an universally good effect Is because their action harmonizes with the human body, w .."Purge out the old leaven, that ye mayoecome a new lump," is the language of tne Ilolv Writ, a figure applied spiritually. It is true, hut how 'could it have any application unless confirmed by practical experience in the body of matter! . The foundation upon which this figure of scripture rests is as immovable as the laws which govern the tides, or that occasion the thunders of heaven. "The Condition."
, The condition upon which God litis given health to man is a constant care to keep his stomach and bowels free from all morbid or unhealthy accumulations. The means to effect this must be those remedies which cleanse the bowels and purify the blood. Good healthful medicine is only a species of food; when the animals, whose habits we have the means of observing, are sick, they wander through the fields, and make selection of those herbs which open their bowels and purify their fluids, which immediately restores their health. When a dose of Brandreth's Pills are taken, they are digested and pass to every part of the system; but they leave the body when they have effected the intended pnrpose, and health and vigor are by them insured. Mineral medicines may enter the system; but they are with difficulty got out again; and they always occasion pain and misery while they remain In the body Whereas Brandreths Pills are as innocent as a piece of bread, and are evacuatedwit h the disease for which they are taken. From the time we are born to the time we cease to breathe, our bodies are constantly wasting, and as constantly building up. The action of the atmosphere wears or wastes them. The food we eat, the digestive organs convert into blood, which renews or builds up by its circulating power. Thus the human body is healthy when the blood circulates freely, and when any thing prevents its free course through the vains, disease commences. Remember! the top the side and the bottom. JjMy own office i on Third street between Main and Walnut, where the oenuine Pills can always be obtained. The following are the only authorized agents for the sale of Brandreths Pills; C. B Davis, Indianapolis; Jacob Loucks, Cumberland; F. Thachkh, Pleasant View; A. W. Stinbly, Bridgeport; who have teem at all times for sale. June 11-Gino.
AGUE! AGUE!! AGUE!!: No cure no pay. CLEMENS & BAKER'S celebrated Black Tonic Pills, A certain cure for FEVER & AGUE. Warranted to cure or Ihe Money rcfuHded. OTpiiE unparallelled success which has attended the JL. use of these Pills wherever they have been introduced, enables us with confidence to offer them to the public as as an infallible remedy for FEVER AND AGUE. And as we have never yet heard of their failing to cure in a single case, we have such confidence in their efficacy, that we hereby authorize our agents to refund the price of them in every instance of failure, provided satisfactory evidence is given that the directions for their use has been complied with. These pills contain no mineral or poisonous ingredient, nor any thing in the least injurious to the human system, but are a vegetable preparation, and may be given to infants or persons of the most delicate constitution, with peifect safety, and are of so bracing and strengthening a nature, that they reatore a lost appetite, strengthen the digestive organs, and invigorate the whole system; and are consequently one of the best remedies known for dyspepsia, liver complaint, jaundice, and general debility. No person, living in a section of country where intermittent fevers prevail, should ever be without a box of the TONIC PILLS, and whenever the premonitary symptoms appear, by taking one pill every morning or oftener, the disease will in most casts be arrested. To travelers also, they cannot be too highly recommended, as they are neatly put up, and can be carried in the pocket without inconvenince, having in this respect the advantage over all the liquid Tonics, which are not only bulky and liable to breakage, but being geneially watery solutions, will not stand the cold. The Tonic Pills contain all the virtues of the best of them.." Our advice to every body is, Go and buy a box of Clemens and Baker's Black Tonic Pills, which may be had of the following agents -
