THE public will please observe thnt no Brandreth's Pills are genuine unless the box has three labels upon it, each containing afacsimilie signature of my hand writing thus B. Brandreth. These labels are engraved on steel, beautifully designed, and done at an expense of several thousand dollars. . .. THE BRANORETII PIEES. THE remarkable cures which have been eiferted by Brandreth's Pills have astonished the whole medical faculty, many of whom have conceded that they are the greatest blessing that ever was given to the world. ; The renson these celebrated Pills have such an universally good effect is beeause their action harmonizes with the human body..'.
"Pur;e out the old leaven, that ye may become a new lump," is the language of tne Holv Writ, a fisrure applied spiritually, it is true, hut how could it linve any application unless confirmed by practical experience in the body of matter? The foundation upon which this figure of scripture rests is as immovable as the laws which govern the tides, or that occasion the thunders of heaven. "The Condition." The condition upon which God litis given health to man is a constant care to keep his stomach and bowels free from all morbid or unhealthy accumulations. The means to effect this must be those remedies which cleanse the bowels and purify the blood. Good healthful medicine is only a species of food; when the animals, whose habits we have the means of observing, nre sick, they wander throush the fields, and make selection of those herbs which open their bowels and purify their fluids, which immediately restores their health. , When a dose of Brandreth's Pills are taken, they are digested and pass to every part of the system; but they leave the body when they have effected the intended purpose, and health and vigor are by them insured. . . . Mineral medicines may enter the system; but they are with difficulty got out again; and they always occasion pain and misery while they remain in the body Whereas Brandreths Pills are as innocent as a piece of bread, and are evacuatedwit h the disease for which they are taken. From the time we are born to the time we cease to breathe, our bodies are constantly wasting, and as constantly building up. The action of the atmosphere wears or wastes them. The food we eat, the digestive organs convert into blood, which renews or builds up hy its circulating power. Thus the human body is healthy when the blood circulates freely, and when any thing prevents i; s free course through the vains, disease commences. Remember! the top the side and the bottom. jyMy own office is on Third street between Main and Walnut, where the genuine Pills can always be obtained. The following are the only authorized agents for the sale of Brandreths Pills; C. B. Davis, Indianapolis; Jacob Loccks, Cumberland; F. Thacher, Pleasant View; A. W. PETERS' PILLS; Or, really, Health compared with 25 or 50 Cents. iyK know thnt these Pills of Peters', are eminently the best vegetable anti bilious Fills in use we can also prove this and from it will not depart and who does not know it? A cloud of witnesses are before you and the world, too numerous too intelligent resistless, speaking what they do know, and testifying what they have seen and experienced. Without ex. ception, in any age or country, no medicine has spread with such .rapidity and given such universal satisfaction they are in general use throughout the American continent and else where and their resistless power anil innocence proclaim them one of the happiest discoveries of modern days, and an inestimable public blessing. They are simple in their preparation, milt and kind in their action, thorough in their operation, and unrivalled in their results. The town and country are alike filled with their praise. The palace and poor-house alike echo with their virtues in all climes under all temperatures, they will retain their wonderful powers, and exert them unaltered by age or situation: and this the voice of n grateful community pioclaiin. They will cure liillious Fever, Fever and Ague.Dys pepsia, Liver Complaints, Sick Headache, Jaundice, Asthma, Dropsey, Rheumatism, Enlargement of the Spleen, Piles, Colic, Female Obstructions, Heartburn, Furred Tongue, Nausea, Distension oi the Stomach and Iiowels, Incipient Diarrhcea. Flatulence, Habitual Costiveness, Loss of Appetite, Blotched or Sal. low Complexion, and in all cases of Torpor of the Bowels, where a cathartic or aperient is indicated producing neither nausea, griping, nor debility, and are the scientific compound of a resu lar physician who has made his profession the study of his life. Dr. Peters was bread to the healing art he is a graduate of Yale College, and the Medical college of Berkshire, Mas9., diplomas from both of which hang in his office. Liberty street, N. Y. also the American Institute honored him with three premiums for his inimitable skill and perfection, in generdizing and manufacturing medicines, and the Medical society of New York have recognized Peters' Pills with their sanction and individual patronage. Dr. Peters formerly practiced in the marshy district South, where agues, fevers, and yellow-jack, grow out of a morbid slate of the bile, and here it was Peters' Pills originated for the benefit of mankind. Some very quacks tell you their nostrums will cure every thing. I would as leave swallow them, prescriptions, wrappers and all, as a tale so absurd. Pe ters' Pills work no such miracles although I take them and derive more real benefit in one box than in fifty dollars laid out in any former way and I would exchange them for none. The care with which every box of pills is put up under Dr. Peters' own inspection their adaptation to every variety of ills where cathartics are indicated three or four is a common dose; hence the patient is not compelled to make a meal of them, Only read what they have done: we mean if any are yet unacquainted with their power and efficacy, please to call on the agents, and see a pamphlet published by Dr. Peters, where they are recom mended by such persons as wll inspire confidence. The sub. Bcribers, also, having found by the past years experience, that it is really what it is recommended to be, have obtained a fresh supply from Dr. Peters, for wholesaling, &c. at his prices. Inquire for Peters' Vegetable Pills JjPrice 25 or 50 cents. The resistless force of such truths their universal reception added to the testimony of millions, "keep it before the people," must and will be heard throughout this vale of tears. The King of terrors looked awhile, ; As though his soul was turned to bile, At that unsparing scourge of ills, By all men known as Peters' Pills. These Pills of i'erer's stop the slaughter, And leave the blood as pure as water. Now Peter makes, I've heard him say. IMPORTANT PROOFS of the efficacy of Dr. Harlich's celebrated Medicines. The following certificate was sent by Mr. E. B. Hinman, agent at Cincinnati, Ohio. There can be no mistake in it, as the par ties are well known. "Mr. Ezekiel Rigdon, of Anderson township, Hamilton county, Ohio, was several days troubled with Bilious affections, Acidity at the Stomach, attended with the usual symptoms of Dyspepsia, and having made trial of various medi cines without finding relief, was cured by the above medicines." Cin. june 30, 1840. Attest, Ezekiel Riodon. YET LATER Mr. Vance, of Washington county, writes as follows Dear Sir Dr. Harlich's pills are performing some of the most wonderful.cures in this vicinity ever heard of. They were introduced hereabout sii months ago, by one of my neighbors, who bought balf dozen packages from the Pittsburgh Office. I am aware of four cases in this place where complete cures have been performed, one of severe Rheumatism, two of Dyspepsia, and one of a most shocking and aggravated Nervous complaint, often or twelve years standing. I send you enclosed five dollars; please to forward Pills for that amount by the bearer, William Ward. july 27, 1840. Attest, John Vance. N. B. A aure remedy for Diarrahcraand Cholera Infantum. rpHE CRAM1NATIVB BALSAM, prepared by Dr. David -1 Jaync, of Philadelphia, is, without doubt, the most certain, safe, and effectual remedy ever yet discovered for Dyssentary, Diarrhcea, Cholera Morbus and Cholera Infantum or Summer Complaint of children, and indeed the only article worthy of the least confidence for curing this last named disease; besides It Is so cheap, that it is within the reach of every family, and if mothers could possibly appreciate its virtues, there would be few families without It. The following is an extract from a letter received by Dr. Jane from M. L. Lnapp, M. D. of Baltimore, which, coming from so high a source, is in itself a sufficient evidence of the astonishing efficacy of this medicine in curing diseases of tbe stomach and bowels. "You ask mo what proofs I meet with of the efficacy of your
medicine:"- I can safely say that I never prescribed a medicine for bowel complaints that has given me so much satisfaction, and my patients so speedy and perfect relief as this. Whenever Introduced into a family, it becomes a standing remedy for those ailments, and is called fora gain and again, which I think a pretty good proof of its efficacy and usefulness. In the Summer complnint of children it has frequently appeared to snsilcb the littlevictims as it were, from the grave. "It hassaved the life of my child, and ofsuch and such a child," Ihave frequently heard said. In dysenteric affections of adults, I have time Sc. again seen it act like a charm, and give permanent relief in a few hours, I may say in a few minutes. In fine, it is a valuable medicine, and no family should be without it. Respectfully, , M L. KNAPP, M. D. It is to be hoped therefore, thnt persons will not allow their prejudice to overcome their better judgment, as Is not unfrequently the case with regard to quack medicines, ns they are very generously and indiscriminately termed; but, whenever either of the above named diseases occur either to an adult or the tenderest infant, do not ask "What shall I do? shall I give It this or the other?" do not fold your arms in listless and unavailing sorrow and cry "my child," or "my friend is past recovery," but fly at once anti procure the Carminative Balsam, 'Tisthis which has afforded relief after all others have failed 'Tis this which has repeatedly snatch'd, as it were, suffering humanity from the verge of eternity, when the last ray of hope had ceased to be indulged, either by their friends or physicinns. Be careful 10 obtain that which is fresh as it is a medicine which becomes somewhat inipnired by age. Jayne It Pancoast being agents for the article, are constantly receiving fresh supplies from the East. Tne citizens of St. Louisandthe public generally, therefore, would do well to call upon them in preference to purchasing elsewhere, where they would be liable to get that which has been made several years and which, of course, would not be so effectual in its operations. DOES NOT REASON and Common Sense teach us that expectoration is the most natural as well as the most effectual ngent in arresting and curing Pulmonary Diseases? The answer must he yeb-, because obstruction is either Immediately or remotely the cause of Inflammation and Catarrhal Fevers, producing Croup, Consumption and Abscesses of the Lungs, pain and soreness of the Throat, Breast, Sides, or Shoulders Bronchitis, exciting mucous and purulent secretions, thereby clogging up the lungs, so as to more or less impede both respiration and tbe free circulation of the blood, causing difficulty of
Dreaming and asthma, Pleurisy, Hoarseness and Loss of Voice Dropsy of the Heart and Chest, Rupture of Blood vessels and bleeding from the throat and lungs, and spitting of blood. To remove this obstruction, from which all these alarming and dangerous diseases originate, and to produce a radical cure, nothing has ever been found equal to Jayne's Expectorant. It stands unrivalled it stands pre eminent try it, and you will he forced to acknowledge that its virtues have not, nor cannot be overrated; that it stands far above and beyond the reach df competition; that it is the only reasonable, the only natural, and the only truly successful method of arresting and curing diseases of the Pulmonary Organs. Although Dr. Taylor's Balsam of Liverwort has found hundreds of advocates and has produced bo large a number of testimonials In its favor I cannot withhold my small meed of praise. Being predisposed to consumption, both from peculiar formation and hereditary transmission, I tried every means to check this disease, and strengthen a naturally weak constitution. I spent two yean at Pisa, one in Rome, two In Florence, and another in the south of France, seeking, meantime, the advice of the best physicians. Two years since 1 returned to this country, in about the same situation ns when I left it. I had seen in the reading rooms In Europe, much said in favor of Dr. Taylor's Balsam of Liverwort, and as soon as I arrived in this city, I used it, and in three months I was so well I concluded I could safely pass the winter here, and did so. 1 have used an occasional bottle now and then during the time, but am now in as good health ns ii r ossibio.
