JUST leceived a lot. of Dr. Jayne'a Carminative Ba.'sair, a certain, safe, and speedy euro for Dysentery, Dyarrhrea, Cholera Morbus, Summer Complaint, Cbolic, Sour Stomarh, nnd all diseases of the stomach and bowels; also, till spasmodic and nervous diseases. Foi sale at the Drug Store of '. july 31 CRAIGHEAD & BRANDON. Doctor Joseph llniiiillon's Auli-l'Yvcr l'illx, or vi-j- l'aiily thcii' own I'liywiaii. A certain cure for all kinds of Feuers. THE unrivalled success of these Pills in every region where they had been used, has induced me to give them a general ciiculation, in every portion of country, where the diseases for which they are leconnnendcd prevail; nnd as the vallies of tbe Mississippi, Missouri, Illinois, Wabash rivers, and all their trib utaiy streams are visited every season with some of the forms of fever, I have taken great trouble through the medium of agents, to place them in almost every neighborhood, so that they may he'w'whin tbe reach of every family. Four fifths of tbe human family who die in tbe western and southern countries, between the moutlisof June and November, fall victims to fever in some of its various forms; nnd it is wonderful beyond com prehension that so little has been done by medical men to prevent the ravages of fevers, which may be truly called the greatest of all terrors to the western nnd southern people. These Pills are very unpopular among physicians, because they cut
them out of their practice. Families wbo keep and use them according to the direct ionss but seldom have to call on Doctors for medical aid. These pills possess one quality above all others, which as rendered them so justly valuable to people. It is this. They cleanse the blood and render it as pure as a fountain of spring water, and those wbo live in regions where billions fever, chills nnd fever, ague and fever, Sic. prevail, by taking two of the pills a week during the summer and fall, will rarely, if ever, be attacked with either of those diseases. These pills are so mild in their effects in the system, that patients find them selves well after their use, without knowing how tbe cure has been brought about. Indeed they act. like magie on the human body, producing a cure in a few hours without tbe patient kpow ing how or wherefore he has been restored to health. They neither sicken the stomach nor produce any action on the bowels. Patients can drink cold water and eat anything that a sick person should take as nourishment while taking them. Females can take them in any siuaiion, without the least fear of injury. Indeed, females in a delicate situation should take two or three a. week during the sickly part of the season; for they are almost a certain preservative of health to such persons. For child i fin or grown persons who cannot take Tills, they may be beaten into a powder and put into a vial of water, and taken in that way For grown persons, make a powder oi ten pills, and put it in ten tenspoonfuls of water, add a little sugar, and give a teaspoohful every hour, shaking the vial each time before taking it. A child ten years old may take of the mix ture thus made, 30 drops an hour for ten hours; one of four years old 1.5 drops, and a child of four weeks old 5 or 6 drops an hour lor, ten hours; and to prevent a return, give three do ses a day for five or six days, and to children who take the Pills, a like proportion. The pills are s-o innocent that double the amount will do no harm to children or grown persons.
Aock and Fever, on Chills and Fever. In this class of
fever which is so common in the western and southern countries, and so easily cured when understood and treated properly, but little directions are necessary. These pills possess a rare and singular virtue in this disease. They are emphatically a specilic, or infallible cure. I defy any case to be found that these piPs will not cure in from 24 to 48 hours, if taken according to the directions. One great advantage possessed by them over any other medicines in Ague and Fever, and the common chills and lever, is that patients will rarely have a return of tbe complaint after their use, except when they expose th-mselves too soon after it is stopped; and when by exposure it is brought back in a few cases, a repetition of the Pills will immediately cure it again A practice of 32 years in the western and southern states, where all the varieties of fever prevail, has given me an experience in those diseases, possessed by few if any physicians. These pills will he of use to all debilitated persons; particu larly to females, who complain of weak ness or debility from any
cause whatever. I n such cases, two of tbe pills a day will, in a
short time, restore, the appetite and strengthen and invigorate
the system. If persons travelling in the sickly portion of the year, through regions where fevers prevail, will take five or six of these pills a week, they will rarely, if ever be attacked with
fivers.
These pills should also be given In the latter stages of Scarlet and Spotted fever, and ahso what is commonly called Winter
fever. In such cases give four or five of the pills a day. In any of those fevers where much pain is fi It jn the stomach
bowels, back, or head, 30 or 40 drops of laudanum three times
a day will relieve the patient, and a less quantity for children in proportion to their age; but it should not be given while purgative medicines are operating. 1 could obtain numberless certificates of the great success and value of these pills, but will not incumber the directions with
them. The use of them will he a suflicient recommendation of
their utility to the people. Caction. -The public are particularly cautioned against be lieving the falsehoods that are put in circulation by many uu prjiicyrigd physicians, who to render these pills unpopular a mong the people, are in the habit of asserting that they contain arsenic. ' 1 assure tbe public that there Is not a particle of arse nic, or any other mineral substance in them. They are purely a vegetable composition, and as innocent in the system as their
weight in flour. Physicians have found that in . nine cases out
of ten, one box of these pills will cure a patient, and save him from paying a doctor's bill of 'en, fifteen or twenty dollars, and
it is for this reason that they wish to prevent people from using
tbem. The pills are put up in small round paper boxes, which gene
rally Contain between 2(1 and 25 pills. The directions are wrapped round the box in rather a careless manner, and tied on
with twine. These pills may be found in all the towns and villages, at mills, and in almost every neighborhood in the vallies of the Mississippi, Missouri, Illinois and Wabash, rivers. Each box is enveloped with a paper containing the symptoms of the diseases, and the directions for taking the pills. My name and residence is attached lo the dirrctions. '0M,nl,,j011 a, in faai con-rqin'iic:'s. It is made Known to us from tliu "bills of murtulity," that two thirds of the human family die annually from that fatal destrujer "Consumption!" Would patients pay more regard to their health, and procure proper remedies at tbe tirst attack, many valuable lives would be saved to the enjoy men I of their dearest friends and relatives. It is a well known fact that "Doctor Su ayse's Comi'oi: nd Svece of Wild Cherry" will arrst the dangerous di-case This Medicine has proved its efficacy in "thousands of cases." The very many reiliiicates received, and the recommendations' from country ngenls, who sell this Medicine throughout the United Stales, is truly asloulsjiiiig they speak from ocular proof, witnessing Hie cures in their own vicinity. This certainly is siiflicient evidence to convince Ihemost skeptical of the wonderful cllicacy of this invaluable medicine.
