TAYLOR'S BALSAM OV LIVERWORT, For Consumption nnd Liver C'ouiplnint, Coughs, Colds, Asthma, Difficulty of Breathing, Pains in the side or Breast, Spitting of Blood, CatarU, Palpitation of the Heart, oppression and Soreness of the Chest . IVhooping Cough, Pleurisy, Hectic Fever, Night Sivcats. Difficult or profuse Expectoration, and all other affeitionsof the Chest, Lungs and Liver.
THIS article is prepared according to arecipe procured from a very old and eminent physician, the late Dr. Holyoke, who preserved his own life by its efficacy, although of a consumptive constitution, to the astonishing age of one hundred and two years; until the age of eighty-seven, he was engaged in very extensive practice, requiring much exertion and exposure. Hundreds are now living in good health, that consumption seemed
to have marked for an early grave, who owe their preservation to the use of this invaluable medicine. The virtues of the herb "Liverwort," are in this vegetable preparation so powerfully and effectually concentrated, as to render it a most superior and harmless medicine for all disorders of the Liver and Lungs, and it is now considered by all persons familiar with its effect, superior in merit to nny other medical preparation for these prevalent Complaints, It has proved so astonishingly beneficial for Consumption, Coughs, Colds, Spitting of Blood, &c., that many of our physicians daily employ it. in their practice, and esteem it a superior and valuable medicine, All persons afflicted with Consumption or any other disease of the Lungs, are recommended to make immediate use of this Balsam, as it has not only proved effectual in removing such symptoms as threaten Consumption, but has performed effectual cures of even this formidable disease, where all hopes of recovery were relinquished by the most learned and experienced medical men. This medicine facilitates expectoration, reduces fever, restores strength, and may be considered a very superior prepara
tion for the cure and prevention of all diseases of the Chest nnd Lungs, and should be resorted to, even after these diseases havo
resisted the, usual remedies. In the practive of this old and very respectable physician, this Balsam of Liverwort has acquired an
enviable reputation for its virtues, as superior to that of the
abundant nostrums of the day, as was the character and probl
ty of its inventor and original proprietor, to that of quacksand
empirics, ,
As nn example of the multitude of Certificates we have
received in approbation of this Medicine, the following arc sub
mitted. Hundredsof others may be examined at the Store;
Dear Sir I feel unequivocal pleasure in the opportunity now
offered me of expressing my approbatory opinion of your Hal
sam of Liverwort, and the success I have ever obtained from its
administration. I have used your medicine in upwardsof sixty
cases, comprising all stages of disease, from incipient cold and Cough, to advanced Phthisis, and have invariably found immediate relief. I recommend it cheerfully in all cases where the Chest and Lungs are effected, particularly in Consumption, with Scorfulous Diathesis, For Chronic Cough, Pain in the Chest. Spitting of blood, &c.,I have no hesitation in pronouncing your
Vegetable Medicine unrivalled. With respect, your obedient servant, GEO. CAMPBELL, M. D. And Member of the College of Surgeons, Edjnburg. New York, January 2, 1839. THE BKAIVDKIiTIt PILLS.
rTMIE remarkable cures which have been effected hy Brandreth's
Pills have astonished the. whole medical faculty, many of
whom have conceded that they are the greatest blessing that
ever was given to the world.
The reason these celebrated Pills have such nn universally
good effect is because their action harmonizes with the human body.
"Purge out the old leaven, that ye may hecome a new lump," is the language of tne Holy Writ, a figure applied spiritually, it is true, but how could it have any application nntess confirmed by practical expqrience in the body of matter? The foundation upon which this figure of scripture rests is as immovable as the
laws vMiich govern the tides, or that occasion the thunders of
heaven. "The Condition." The condition upon which God has given health to man is a constant care to keep his stomach and bowels free from all morbid or unhealthy accumulations. The means to ellect this must be those remedies which cleanse the bowels and purify the blood. Good healthful medicine is only a species of food; when the animals, whose habits we have the means of observing, are sick, they wander through the fields, nnd make selection of those herbs which open their bowels and purify their fluids, which immediately restores their health. When a dose of Brandreth's Pills are taken, they are digested and pass to every part of the system; but they leave the body when they have effected the intended purpose, and health and vigor are by them insured. Mineral medicines may enter the system; but they are with difficulty got out again; nnd they always occasion pain and misery while they remain in the body t Whereas Brandreths Pills are as innocent as a piece of bread, and are evacuatedwit li the disease for which they are taken. From the time we are born to the time we cease to breathe, our bodies are constantly wasting, and as constantly building up. The action of the atmosphere wears or wastes them. The food we eat, the digestive organs convert into blood, which re-
news or builds up by its circulating power. Thus the human
body is healthy when the blood circulates freely, and when
any thing prevents its free course through the vains, disease
commences. Remember! the top the side and the bottom.

DYSPEPSIA! DYSPEPSIA!!
That troublesome and peace-destroying disease Thousands
and tens of thousands suffer from that common and distressing complaint. Dyspepsia is frequently caused hy overloading or
distending the stomach by excessive eating or drinking indi
gcstible and acrid substances taken into the stomach, or from long continued constipation of the bowels, a sedentary life, fear,
grief, anxiety, a copious draught of cold water, drastic purgative medicines, dysentery, miscarriages, intermittent and spas modic affections of the stomach and bowels, irregular meals, late hours, and too frequent use of spiritous liquors.
The symptoms of Dyspepsia may be described as a want of
appetite, or an unnatural or voracious one, nausea and sometimes bilious vomiting, sudden and transient distensions of the stomach after eating, acid and putrescent erucations, water brash, pain inthe region of the s'omach, costiveness, palpitation of the heart, dizziness and dimness of the sight, disturbed rest, tremors, mental despondency, flatulency, spasms, nervous irritability, chilliness, snllowness of complexion, great oppression after eating, languor and general debility, sick head-ache, &c. CURE At the head ot all remedies stands Dr. Harlich's Compound StrenotheniNo Tonic and German Aperient Pills, which act greatly upon the peristatic motion of the intestines, thereby producing regularity of the bowels, at the same time improving the functions of the debilitated organs, thus invigorating and restoring the digestive organs to a healthy actionThis medicine seldom fails in producing relief. Full and explicit directions accompany the above medicine. Likewise a pamphlet wnich describes diseases, the manner of treating, &c.
