O., to learn, If possible the cause of the noticeable improvement in his physical condition over that of a year ago, when be uas a sufferer from Indigestion and various organic disorders. "You see," began Mr. McMahon, "to start with, my work that of setting type at the case allows ir.e little chance for bodily w exercise, and Is altogether too conlinin.7 for anyboly who is In the least subject to Indigestion or dyspepsiu. Perhaps not more so than many another mechanic or artisan who is constantly indoors and under severe mental strain, while the physical development is aüly in need of something to keep It in trim. Well, that has been my complaint for years, and some months ago I became very bilious, cud constipation made life miserable for me at times. Then it took a seat in my LIVKIt, which became noticeably inactive, and I became alarmed about it. tTio first thing I turned my attention to was to secure a 'liver regulator,' which, however, failed to regulate; next I sought relief in 'liver pills,' which so pained and griped me that the cure was, I thought, worse than the disease. The next thing I did was to throw away the whole "shooting match,' and resolve to take no more proprietary medicines. However, on hearing my tale of avop, one day, at the ollke, a fellowworLinan offered me a small Tubule Kipans, he called it which, he said, he would guarantee to act on the liver. I took it under protest, expecting to be doubled up In about fifteen minutes with the 'gripes.' Hut I was agreeably surprised in its action. It was very gentle, and I resolved to try a box. Since then I have gradually noted an entire change In the working of my system, and think that Itipans Tabules are the best remedy for liver and stomach troubles this side of anywhere. They are really a substitute for physical cxerciso. Have one before you fro?" From every city, town and hamlet on tbis vast continent, como letters from Buffering women; from those whoso physicians have been unable to assUt them, or from that num berless class whose confi de ne 3 in Mrs. Pinkham's advioo and the curative properties of her Vegetable Compound is unbounded. Every letter received from women is recorded, und hundreds of volumes of cases treated aid in fur2?Unishin practical information for the women of to-da3. No letters are published without the request cf the writer. The st rietet t confidence is observed. The following letter represents thousands : 4 1 always enjoyed good health un til tbe months before the birth of my babe. Then t w;as very weak; my back ached all tho time. My physicians caid I would be all right after the birth of the child, but I was not, although at that time I had the best of care. The pains in my back were almost un bearable. I had leucorrhoea in its worst form; menstruations were painful. Any work or care would entirely tmnerjre me. When my babo was H months old, friends persuaded mo to take Lvdia E. Pinkham's Vegetable Compound. Before I had taken one bottle I felt the effects. My back did not acho so badlr, and I felt stronger. After taking four bottles I felt, well. My ambition returned, menstruations were painless, leucorrhoea entirely cured, end I could take care of my babe and do mv housework. I 6hall alwavs recommend ycur Vegetablo Compound for all women, especially for young mothers." Mks. IT. L. Gooi.D, Oregon, Wis. They attack the affected appendix, and tlie inflammation extends thence to the adjacent organs. Although now apparently useless, It is believed that the appendix once formed an Important part of tho alimentary tract. This was in the days when we needed a wisdom tooth for crushing palmstiand ferns and a large absorbing surface with which to extract their scanty nutriment. The wisdom tooth, with Its insufficient calcification, perishes easily when attacked by bacteria, and the appendix shows the same want of resisting power. Tho vermiform appendix was recognized in the sixteenth century. As compared" with the size of tho intestine, it Is largest at birth and smallest after TO years of age.It is of very variable 'dimensions, for the reason, says the writer, that it is one of the structures which, in the descent of man, "flutters before going out.'' Many of them are natural thieves without training, and any of the species can Ik? taught. There is a dog of this kind !,n northwest Washington, lie will pic up anything he can find around a yard or outside of a store, but his specialty is In ladies' pocketbooks and handbags. When he sees one of these he grabs It and runs, alwnys succeeding in getting out of sight before he can be captured or followed. No owner has ever been seen, hence no complaints have been made at police headquarters, but there Is little doubt, if it were possible to follow the animal, that It would be found that he has been carefully tratnod as a purse gnat eher, and that he takes his booty home to his muster. He seems to be aware that he is doing wrong, jumping fences and dodging around houses when running away. Poets Break Out
