Snyder made a business trip to Donaldson and C rovertown today. Benj. VanLue, of Argos, has gone to Bedford, Iowa, in the interest of the liorton institute. The Christian Ladies' social will meet this week with Mrs. Amy Walker next Friday afternoon. Chas. Whitniore, of South fiend, an old Flymouth boy, is in our city today interviewing old friends. A new floor is now in position at the Linkenhelt meat market. The doctor proposes to have things neat. ,1. C. Zea, of Normal, 111., was exhibiting a very interesting industrial chart to the school oHicials here today. .1. S. Bender went to Knox, via. Hamlet this morning in the interest of the Bender X: Reeve real estate firm. Miss Hattie Ruple, whose illness was reported in last evening's Indkpendent, died last night at 8 o'clock. Noah Hoover, who is traveling for a Chicago wholesale house is in the city for a few days visit with his family. Miss (Irate Horton has been sick in bed since Saturday, but we are informed by Dr. Aspinall that she is bet ter. Mrs. Ed. Baxter left today for Omaha, Neb., where she will make a two weeks' visit With friends and relatives. Darwin S. Enoch, of Crawfordsville, Indiana, passed through here with a
car-load of tine horses bound for Mansfield, OhiD. F. (J. Keely, of South Bend, who is secretary of the people party of their district was in the city today on political business. Dr. Borton was called suddenly to his daughter's bedside, Mrs. R. K. Beebe, at Willniette, 111., Sunday and may remain a couple days. Owing to the rush of business, the Flymouth Telephone company have secured the assistance of lineman, Howard Eaton, of Argos. The Chapel hall people have purchased a lot corner of Water and (iarro streets and expect to begin the erection of a church immediately. The ladies of the Y. R. C. are requested to be present Wednesday Mar. II, at the quilting social to beheld at the (J. A. R. hall. Bring your dinners. Edward Williams, formerly of Valparaiso, has moved to Flymouth and will soon commence work in one of our factories. Mr. Williams is u nephew of Dr. Baker. Mrs. Chas. Miles received a letter last

Robert Cecil, who for some time lias been located in Bourbon in the cornice and slate roof business has secure! the Wolford room next to H. B. Whitlock and will move here immediately. John Sullivan, who is employed at the 1 . 1 . v. Ireight depot, haö since Friday last put in a greater portion of his time at home, singing to a little daughter that came to bless his home last Friday. Bertha M. Steel was one of the lucky ones in the Happy Home contest advertised in The Independent. Her list contained lifty-six words. Her choice of prizes was a watch which she received by express today. A party was held at the home of Frank Ray a few nights ago, at which time about fifty young people participated in the enjoyment of the evening. Music was furnished by Miss Mary (..reer, II Vanvactor and M. De Barr. Home-seekers excursion to the Southwest March 10th via the Nickel Flate road at lowest rates. Bear in mind that we operate an unexcelled dining car service and a line of magnificent through sleepers between Chicago, Buffalo, New York and Boston. The V. M. C. A." is preparing to give a lecture and entertainment next Friday evening. C. H. Reeve will lecture on 'Ethical Force' while other features of interesting nature will be interspersed. There will be no tickets. The public is invited. This morning while Charles Brown and (leo. Fogle were painting in the i stairway leading np to the old (1. A. R. hall, the scaffold they were working on precipitated them to the lloor below. While no bones were broken, they were considerably shaken up. Birring the color they represented they were lit sub ject for the minstrel show they are preparing for. Last evening the grocery house owned by J. E. Snyder, was sohl to Mr. A. M. Reeve, who took charge of the stock this morning. Mr. Beeves has for a number of years been in the boot and shoe business on North Michigan street and is well known to our people, lie will move his stock from the old stand to his new location and will fit his establishment up in first class shape. Frank Reeve who has been in the employ of Mr. Snyder will remain under the new management. Mr. Reeves will no doubt become one of the moving factors among our business men, and The Independent extends congratu lations in his new venture and wishes him success. II.lON. Mar.U, IbW. John Mintline, of North Webster, is visiting the family of S. F. Overstreet, northeast of town. A. T. Cormican, living west of town, has been very sick, but is getting better. The last institute for this year will be held in Ilion next Saturday. Frank Morical has moved south of Inwood on a farm belonging to a Mr. Boggs. He will work for Mr. Boggs during the summer. The schools in this township close one week from next Friday, March 20. John Kramer has been a very sick man for the past week, but now seems to be cn the road to recovery. Erwin Reid is building an addition to the hardware building. We understand lie has traded his store room for land in Barron county, Wisconsin, and will move there in a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Vangundy will move to his grandfathers farm northeast of town in a few days. - Manfred E. Yantiss and Lillie M. Tippett were quietly married last Sun day. We earnestly hope the voyage across the sea of life will always be pleasant for them. Last Thursday was the nineteenth birthday anniversary of Charley Vangundy, and neighbors and friends to the number of about forty gathered to help him celebrate the event. His wife and baby's birthdays occurred just a

Taylor, trustee of this township attended a meeting of the Hoard of Education at Plymouth last Saturday. Death' l!rvrt. Sunday morning at the home of Mrs. C. C. Kanarr, live miles north of Plymouth, occurred the death of Mother Stilson, at the ripe old age of K years. She has been confined to the bed for some time and death relieved her from suffering. The burial will take place tomorrow at the Fremont cemetery. Mrs. Stilson was the mother of Mr. Alex Stilson, and was highly respected by a host of friends. Public Sale.
