The first fellow is a direct descendant of tho oid scratch. Mrs. Amanda Thomas had some merchandise, bought at Kloepfer's, nipped by one of the light fingered gentry yesterdiy. While making some purchases at a grocery store she laid t he bundle on a counter, and when she turned to pick it up it had mysteriously vanished. There is no clew to the thief. When FJijah Stonebumer was coming into town at 2:30 this afternoon his team took fright at an L. F. & W. engine while on the Lake Frie crossing. The team ran nearly to the Vandalia crossing, where it shied into the ditch and dumped Mr. Stoneburner's mother and a child out on the roa l side. No one was seriously hurt. The body of Mrs. A. 1. Jacoby was brought to this city at noon today. Many friends and relatives ot the bereaved family were at Vandalia depot when the train came in arTd from there the body was escorted to Jacoby church where the last tributes of respect were paid the dead and the funeral service of Reformed church was pronounced by Rev. Rothenberger.
