Decem ber 15, 1S63. J. Vernon, Secy Money Wanted. In another column will be found an adver tisement of the County t ominfcsioiiers of Shelby County offering for sale $25,000 worth of County Bonds. The object of this loan is to rajpe money wherewith to pay the bounties offered by the Commissioners for men to fill the quota of Shelby county under the late call of the President for 300,000 men. The investment is a good one for those having idle money, as a reasonable and remunerative interest will be allowed. It is essential that these bonds be taken immediately, as the money is daily required to pay the bounties. It is expected that all feeling an interest in filling up the decimated rants of tho army, and . rho are anxious to see the rebellion upecdily crushed, and have money on hand, will come proihptly forward and take these bonds. The two exhibitions of the Excelsior Club at Johnsons Hall on Thursday and Friday evenings of last week were largely attended, and we are assured by those present (we regret that business engagements prevented our attendance) that they were of a unique and highly editjing character, reflecting much credit upon the youthful participants and in every respect satisfactory to the intelligent and appreciative audiences, who were not only- pleased but delighted. Subscription Agent," will continue to supply the public, The whole amount of the Loan authorised is Five Hundred Millions of Dollars. Nearly Four Hundred Millions have been already subscribed for and paid into the Treasury, mostly within the last seven months. The large demand from abroad, and the rapidly increasing home demand for use as th basis for circulation by National Basking Associations now organising in all parts of the country, will, in a very short period, ai.orb the halance. Sales have already ranged from ten to fifteen millions weekly, frequently exceeding three millions daily, and as it is well known that the Secre tary of the Treasury has ample and unfailing resources iu the Duties on Imports and the Internal Revenues, and in the saue of tie interest bearing Legal Tender Treasury Notes, t is almost a certainty that he will not find it necessary, for a long tin? to come, to seek a market for any other Ions r permanent loans, nit Ixterest asd Principal or wiiicn are Payable is GOLD. Prudence and self-interest must force the minds of those contemplating the formation of National Banking Associations, as well as the minds of all wh have id e money on their hands, to the prompt conclusion thai they should losi no time in subscribing to this popular Loan. It will soon be beyond their reach, and advance to a hanissme premium, as was the result with the "Seven Thirty" Irfan, when it was all sold and could no longer 1 subscribed fir at par. TT TS A SIX PER CENT LOAN. THE INTEREST & PRINCIPAL PAYARLH IN COIN, THUS YIELDING i OVER NINE PEU CfcNT PER ANNUM at the present rate of premium on coin. The Government requires all duties on imports to be paid in Coin ; these duties have for a Ions time past amounted to over a Quarter of a Million Dollars daily, a sum nearly three times greater than that required in tlic payment of the interest on all the 5-C0"s and other permanent Zoans. So that it is-hoped that the surplus coin in the Treasury, at no distant j day, will etaable the United States to resume specie paymeuts upon all liabilities. The Loan is called 3-50 from the fact that whilst the Rouds may run for 0 years yet the Government has a right to pay them off in Gold, at par, at any time after 5 years. THE INTEREST IS PAID HALF YEARLY, viz: on the first days of November and May. Subscribers can have Coupon Donds, which are payable to bearer, and are ?30, $190, SjOO and f 1000 ; or registered Bonds of same denominations, and in addition $5,000 and $10,000. For Banking purposes an.l for investment of Trust monies th Registered Bonds are preferable These 5-C0"s cannot be taxed by States, cities, towns, or counties, and the Government tax on them is only oue-and-a-hi f per cent., on the amount of income, when the I noome of the hc'.der exceeds Six Hundred dollars per annum; all other investments, such as income from Mortgages, Railroad Stock an I Bonds, etc., must pay from three to five per cct tax on the income. . " ... Banks and Bankers throughout tne country win conur.ue to dispose of the Bonds , ami all rders by mail or otherwise promptly attended to. The inconTenience of a few days' delay in tne delivery ol the bonds is unalvoidaMe, the demand being so great; tut as interest commences from the day of subscription, no loss is eccasioned, and every effort is beinj made to diminish the delay.
